Sta lishing excellence in law
THE Best Brand in Education in Malaysia bestowed on Brickfields Asia College ( BAC) is a reflection of its educational excellence.
Along with its pre- university, undergraduate law and business programmes, BAC is also renowned for the Certificate in Legal Practice ( CLP) programme, which culminated in an examination taken by foreign university law graduates to become qualified advocates and solicitors in Malaysia.
BAC’s impressive track record in this programme includes more than 7,300 CLP graduates. At the convocation for the CLP examinations last year, BAC CLP student Yip Yi Wen received the Tun Hamid Omar Award for Best Overall Student in the country.
This is the 11th win in a row for BAC and it now holds the distinction of being the only institution with students who have won this coveted prize for the 11th consecutive year.
In addition, four BAC students, including Yip, won book prizes, which recognise the highest mark achieved in individual papers: Yip ( criminal procedure), John Ling Chee Ern ( evidence), Shubashini Munnisamy ( evidence) and Leanne Lau Yue Ling ( professional practice).
BAC students for more than 11 years have also secured 60 out of 78 book prizes and obtained 60 out of 78 second uppers awarded nationwide.
BAC’s exceptional track record demonstrates the college’s commitment to provide an exceptional educational experience.
BAC’s winning combination of a faculty of qualified academics and experienced practitioners supplemented with comprehensive learning materials and a totality of support ensures students enjoy a holistic education.
BAC aims to further enhance students’ credentials through the innovative Masterclass Series ( MCS) programme.
The MCS is a revolutionary legal programme, which provides students with essential training in core areas of legal practice such as legal drafting skills, legal methodology and research, opinion writing, resolution of disputes out of court, advanced communication skills, criminal practice, client interviewing and conference skills.
The MCS is delivered by a team of senior and highly respected members of the bar and bench. Also important is the Advocacy Prep Course, an essential programme for law students.
This is a seven- week programme encompassing specially crafted modules designed to provide students with core competencies needed in the real- world legal workplace.
Another programme unique to BAC is the Professional Plus Series ( ProPlus), which is designed to upgrade and upskill legal students and practitioners with relevant industry- specific knowledge.
This programme allows students to explore different areas of practice prior to specialising in a specific area of law. The ProPlus is taught by eminent legal practitioners, industry experts and experienced professionals.
The ProPlus includes shipping law and practice, oil and gas law, intellectual property law and practice, taxation law and practice, employment law and commercial contracts.
