Ease with yeast

-

IRRITABLE bowel syndrome ( IBS) is a disorder that interferes with normal bowel functions and has various symptoms.

Some sufferers have stomach discomforts with constipation ( IBS- C) while others have it with diarrhoea ( IBS- D). Some even experience both, alternating between the constipation and diarrhoea w( IBS- M).

IBS- C sufferers experience constipation with abdominal discomfort, excess gas or bloating at least three days a month over the span of three months.

While not life- threatening, IBS- C can affect your lifestyle due to its constant cycle of discomfort and distress. IBS- C is increasingly affecting Malaysians, with an estimate of 70% of IBS cases being caused by IBS- C.

Although the exact cause of IBS- C is unknown, there are a few underlying pathological reasons that explain the cause of its symptoms. These include intestinal inflammation, altered digestive tract motility, hypersensitivity of the digestive tract, alterations in microflora and bacterial overgrowth.

Drugs used for IBS- C are not to cure but relieve its symptoms during the attack. A prokinetic group of drugs is commonly used for IBS- C.

They work by stimulating the peristaltic movement of the small intestine and quickening the stomach’s emptying process, thus relieving stomach wind, bloating and pain.

However, prokinetic agents have many side effects such as headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness, flushing or irritability when used too often.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I- 3856 is now available as a clinically proven, natural alternative to drugs for IBS- C. It helps relieve IBS- C symptoms and alter the gut environment to build a healthier gut that wards off IBS- C attacks.

This yeast probiotic was associated with a 34% reduction in pain for people with IBS- C, reported in the United European Gastroenterology Journal last year. Another study published in the Digestive and Liver Disease journal in 2014 reported a 63% improvement in stomach pain and discomfort with a 500mg yeast probiotic intake a day.

Yeast probiotic ( Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I- 3856) aids in generating short- chain fatty acids ( SCFAs), which display natural prokinetic effects, moving the bowels and relieving the bloating and pain.

It helps to increase stomach resistance and pain by 39% and allows the stomach to adapt to 50% better distension, within 10 to 15 days.

Yeast probiotic helps reduce the underlying issues of IBS by balancing the bacteria colonisation in the intestines, eliminating bad bacteria such as Enterococci and Candida albicans ( bad yeast) and subsequently reducing bowel inflammation.

Besides being natural, yeast probiotics are also not sensitive to antibiotics and are resistant to bile and gastric juices.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae CNCM I- 3856 can be used long term without any side effects at either two 250mg capsules daily or one capsule twice daily with an empty stomach.
