LORD of the Rings and The Hob­biton en­thu­si­asts are in for a treat as Parlo Tours presents its 11D/ 8N The Real Mid­dle- Earth of New Zealand pack­age. Even non- fans would be de­lighted with the pack­age as the itin­er­ary is dif­fer­ent from the usual – the tour cov­ers the north and west coast of the South Is­lands of New Zealand.

In South Is­land, you will ex­pe­ri­ence high­lights such as a visit to Arthur’s Pass Na­tional Park, which fea­tures di­ver­sity of flora and land­scape in the heart of the South­ern Alps. You will also visit Fox Glacier – the long­est of the awe- in­spir­ing New Zealand West Coast glaciers. To con­tinue your scenic tour, there will also be a visit to Lake Mathe­son. The un­sur­passed views and moun­tain re­flec­tions from its forested shores make this easy walk among the most pop­u­lar on the West Coast.

Adren­a­line junkies and those look­ing for some ad­ven­ture would be pleased to note that there is also an op­tional tour to the Kawa­rau Bungy Cen­tre – the first bungy jump site in the world. You may choose to get the adren­a­line go­ing with an ex­hil­a­rat­ing jump or just savour the at­mos­phere from its view­ing plat­form.

The tour also in­cludes a must- do ac­tiv­ity – a ride on the Sky­line Queen­stown Gon­dola, which car­ries you 450m to the top of Bob’s Peak. Along the way, you will be treated to a spec­tac­u­lar 220° panorama with breath­tak­ing views.

Also in­cluded in the pro­gramme is an ex­cur­sion to Mil­ford Sound for an un­for­get­table South­ern fjords ad­ven­ture. On this ex­cur­sion, you will en­joy awe- in­spir­ing scenery from the com­fort of a mod­ern, spa­cious ves­sel. Do also keep a look­out for wildlife, such as seals bask­ing on the rocks or dol­phins.

An­other high­light of this tour is a night’s stay in Ao­raki Mount Cook Na­tional Park where you can catch sight of the peak of Mount Cook.

You will also be vis­it­ing Mount Cook Alpine Salmon Farm at the Lake Pukaki Vis­i­tor Cen­tre.

En­joy breath­tak­ing land­scapes and the Kiwi spirit of ad­ven­ture at Ao­raki Mount Cook Na­tional Park and ex­pe­ri­ence a clear starry night in the world’s largest In­ter­na­tional Dark Sky Re­serve. You will also go on the Kea Point Walk, which gen­tly winds through sub­alpine grass­lands to the Mueller Glacier mo­raine wall and ends at a view­ing deck. There will also be a stop at Lake Tekapo.

When you move on to the North Is­land, this is where Mid­dle- earth comes to life. Here, the tour will take you to The Shire, home of the Hob­biton Movie Set, where The Lord of the Rings and The Hob­biton trilo­gies were filmed. Dur­ing your tour you will see Hob­bit Holes, The Green Dragon Inn, The Mill as well as other struc­tures and gar­dens built for the films.

Aside from this Mid­dle- earth ex­per­ince, there will also be a unique farm ex­pe­ri­ence at Agrodome, which is lo­cated in the heart of a work­ing 350- acre farm – truly an ed­u­ca­tional ex­pe­ri­ence for the whole fam­ily. On this tour, you get to ride around on board The Gi­ant Farm Truck and hand- feed as well as take pho­tos with all sorts of friendly an­i­mals. On a visit to the ki­wifruit or­chard and olive grove, you get to taste nat­u­ral ki­wifruit juice and honey.

To ex­pe­ri­ence the lo­cal cul­ture, you will en­joy a Hangi feast and be treated to a Maori cul­tural per­for­mance. There will also be a visit to Wel­come to The Te Puia, New Zealand’s liv­ing Maori cul­tural cen­tre in the Whakare­warewa Geo­ther­mal Val­ley. See kiwi birds on site and mar­vel at the world­fa­mous Po­hutu Geyser as well as over 500 nat­u­ral geo­ther­mal won­ders in this val­ley.
