KOREA Tourism Or­gan­i­sa­tion ( KTO) will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the up­com­ing MATTA Fair, high­light­ing the film­ing lo­ca­tions of De­scen­dants of the Sun, the rise of tourism in sports ac­tiv­i­ties such as marathons, in­ter­est­ing places to visit in the south- eastern part of South Korea, as well as va­ri­ety of fun fes­ti­vals dur­ing the au­tumn and win­ter sea­sons. Ad­di­tion­ally, ex­clu­sive re­demp­tion gifts will be pro­vided for travel en­thu­si­asts in Malaysia.

Due to im­mense pop­u­lar­ity across the globe, the film­ing lo­ca­tions used for the drama have been at­tract­ing fans world­wide.

In con­junc­tion with this huge im­pact on Korea tourism, ma­jor lo­ca­tions have been de­vel­oped as tourist at­trac­tions.

– The In­tro­duc­tion of marathon tourism in South Korea

With the ris­ing of marathon ac­tiv­i­ties glob­ally, Korea Tourism Or­gan­i­sa­tion is in­tro­duc­ing marathon tourism to Malaysians.

There are four ma­jor marathon events in South Korea – Chun­cheon Cho­sunilbo In­ter­na­tional Marathon ( Oct 23), Jeju Man­darin In­ter­na­tional Marathon ( Nov 13), Seoul In­ter­na­tional Marathon ( March) and Gyeongju Cherry Blos­som Marathon ( April 1, 2017).

– The beauty of the south- eastern part of Korea – Gyeongsang

The south­ern part of Korea has its own beauty and has be­come the favourite place to visit through­out the four sea­sons. The re­gion to fo­cus on is the Gyeongsang ( South­east­ern) where di­vi­sions such as Bu­san, Daegu, Ul­san, North Gyeongsang ( Gyeongsang­buk- do) and South Gyeongsang ( Gyeongsang­nam- do) are lo­cated.

– Win­ter es­capade in Gang­won- do

The moun­tain­ous re­gions in Gang­won- do re­ceive snow­fall start­ing in early win­ter, mak­ing the prov­ince a pop­u­lar des­ti­na­tion for win­ter. As the host for up­com­ing 2018 Pyeongchang Win­ter Olympics, Gang­won prov­ince is surely the right get­away for the ul­ti­mate win­ter ex­pe­ri­ence.

– Fun fes­ti­vals to ex­pe­ri­ence in South Korea

With the slo­gan “All for all and all for one in Bu­san”, Bu­san One Asia Fes­ti­val, a much- an­tic­i­pated mu­si­cal fes­ti­val, will be held in the bustling city of Bu­san. The fes­ti­val is said to be the rep­re­sen­ta­tive in the cul­tural con­text of Asia, which is set to pro­lif­er­ate the dy­namic im­age of Bu­san and the Korean Wave to the world.

Known as one of the most pop­u­lar fes­ti­vals, the Bu­san Fire­works Fes­ti­val takes place ev­ery Oc­to­ber along the Gwan­galli Beach.

Fes­ti­val date: Oct 22

The ma­jor cul­tural at­trac­tion for An­dong is the An­dong Mask Dance Fes­ti­val, which has over 50 events and hands- on ex­pe­ri­ence pro­grammes.

Fes­ti­val date: Sept 30- Oct 9

Masan is where the Gagopa Chrysan­the­mum Fes­ti­val is held ev­ery Oc­to­ber. The fes­ti­val presents a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties such as cul­tural pro­grammes, food tast­ing and more.

KCON 2016 Jeju will be held again this year in Jeju Is­land – the only KCON held in South Korea.

A con­cert of the hottest K- pop stars will take place on the night of Oct 29, and per­for­mances of the new­est K- pop stars will be avail­able on the sub- stage of the con­ven­tion hall.

Fes­ti­val date: Oct 29- 30

Hwacheon San­cheo­neo Fes­ti­val is one of the pop­u­lar win­ter fes­ti­vals in Gang­won, cho­sen as one of the seven won­ders of win­ter.

Based on the fes­ti­val’s great suc­cess in 2015, the Viva Ski Fes­ti­val is back again this year.
