EUROPE remains a lure that captures the imaginatio­ns of Malaysians – the combinatio­n of old world charms and historic landmarks makes the continent highly attractive.

Seasoned travel agency Golden Tourworld Travel offers packages that allow its travellers to discover the unique side of Europe.

On top of the list is GTT’s Golden Europe programme for 10D/ 8N, flying with Emirates via Dubai, travellers will start their journey in Zurich, Switzerlan­d and proceed to Lucerne.

There they will visit Mt Titlis on the rotair cable car, visit the Lion Monument and cross the Chapel Bridge, visit the Rhine Falls and the Black Forest and Heidelberg.

They will then proceed to Cologne to view the city’s magnificen­t cathedral then cross the borders to Amsterdam, Netherland­s, where they can board a glass- domed waterbus to cruise the Amsterdam canals and visit a diamond factory.

They will visit Zaanse Schans, a collection of well- preserved historic windmills and houses, then go to Volendam, well- known for old fishing boats and residents who still wear traditiona­l Dutch clothes.

Next stop is Brussels, Belgium, with its cobbled streets, parks and its contempora­ry art, and onwards to Paris, France, to drive along the Champs- Elysees, see the Arch de Triomphe and more.

They will also get to go on a River Seine cruise and shop in the Galeries Lafayette.

Then they will embark on the Eurostar speed train to London, where they will visit the Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and 10, Downing Street.

Sights also include the Big Ben, Westminste­r Abbey and the London Eye, before returning to Kuala Lumpur.

This trip is available for end of November to March next year – exact dates can be confirmed at the MATTA Fair.

The other unique itinerary is the 10D/ 8N Arctic adventure that takes travellers through the largely Scandinavi­an countries.

Flying with Emirates, travellers will land in Oslo, Norway, via Dubai – highlights include the Akershus Castle, the Royal Palace and a visit to Frogner Park’s Vigeland Sculptures.

From there, they will visit northern Norwegian town of Kirkenes, situated 400km north of the Arctic Circle, where they will experience a King Crab Fishing Tour and the wonders of living in the Kirkenes Snowhotel, made entirely out of snow and ice and splendidly illuminate­d.

From there, travellers will stay in Kakslautta­nen’s glass igloos in Saariselka, Finland, and also visit the reindeer farm and Santa’s Resort.

In Finland, they will also journey to Rovaniemi where they will visit the Arktikum, a science centre and museum focusing on the Arctic regions; a visit to the Santa Claus Village and during the night, seek out the splendours of the Aurora Borealis, if weather permits.

At Kemi, visits include the Ranua Wildlife Park, the Snow Castle and then to experience the Sampo Arctic Icebreaker.

Travellers then proceed to Helsinki and Stockholm for sightseein­g, before return to Kuala Lumpur.

The Arctic trip is open for travel on Jan 26 and 28 next year only.

Other European trips include the 12D/ 9N in France for April 10, 24 and May 22 next year, where a trip to the L’Occitane factory is included.

Travellers will fly to Marseille via Amsterdam on KLM, and will include visits to Aix- en- Provence, Avignon, Nimes, Montpellie­r, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Cognac, St Malo and Paris.

Some of the programme highlights besides the L’Occitane factory are the Aeroscopia factory visit, a cognac distillery, chateaux visits and the distinctiv­e Mont- Saint- Michel.

Other European getaways include 12D10N to Spain and Portugal, open for the whole year, though it is advisable to visit during winter months from November to March.

And an East Europe package that covers five countries: South Germany/ Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic – this spends 13D/ 11N, flying via Emirates and starts November this year till the next year.

Programmes for single- country trips are also available: 11D/ 9N Panoramic Italy, where sojourners will stay in the impressive Fairmont Hotel, for Nov 24 to Dec 14 and Jan 28 and 29 next year; the 9D7N to Switzerlan­d, and parts of Germany on Dec 12 and Jan 26 next year; and the Ireland and Britain 12D10N programme that covers Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales, from April to October next year.
