Nurturing math prodigies
UCMAS offers a scientifically proven mental development programme designed for children to develop their latent mental power at an early age, when brain development is at its peak.
Established in 1993, UCMAS has expanded to more than 57 countries in five continents, benefiting children worldwide.
The institution’s concept began when UCMAS founder and president Dr Dino Wong had the idea of bringing back the traditional abacus and adapting it to children in modern society.
With the pairing of an innovative syllabus and modern educational techniques, the three- millennia- year- old abacus stimulates the brain and sharpens children’s ability to independently perform mental calculation in their heads.
Over the years, UCMAS has been recognised worldwide for its proven results. Evidence is seen through learners’ outstanding mental arithmetic ability and speedy calculation after undergoing the programme.
Results go beyond mental arithmetic as it helps nurture other mental abilities such as concentration, listening, observation, imagination, visualisation and memory.
These are achievable as mental arithmetic learners are equipped with enhancing skills that help develop other parts of the brain too.
Living up to its motto To Learn, To Serve, To Excel, UCMAS has more than two decades of experience with ever- improving knowledge and innovations.
As of date, UCMAS has about 5,000 learning centres worldwide, reaching more than a million children.
In 2003, UCMAS garnered three spots in The Malaysia Book of Records as the largest mental arithmetic institution, the first mental arithmetic institution to achieve the ISO 9001 certification, and the organiser for the largest mental arithmetic competition.
UCMAS also received a world record in 2004 under the Limca Book of Records for holding the largest abacus mental arithmetic competition in the world.
In 2013, a UCMAS student achieved another world record for solving 10 tasks of mentally adding “10 digits and 10 rows” of numbers in two minutes and five seconds.
