Circus comes to town
From the Candyman to the Jester, you can have a whole cast of circus characters on your table.
MARCEL Wanders, the creative director of Dutch design studio Moooi who is known for his quirky creations, has once again teamed with A less ito design anew table ware and household accessories range.
The renowned Italian home ware brand’ s new au thu mn/ winter collection brought all the fun of the circus to this year’ s Mai son& Obj et interior design and decorations how, which was fittingly themed around games. The show concluded yesterday.
The “Circus” collection includes colourful stainless steel and china pieces including bowls, trays, ice buckets, wine coolers, salad bowl sand cups, all finished in white, red, black and gold geometric patterns evoking the ambiance and aesthetic of the circus.

W anders has created five objects, designed like miniature sculptures, each with its own personality .“The Jester” cork screw, which goesby the name of Gilberto, is a wine-drunk joker who waves, dance sand manically gesticulates, stealing the spotlight as he pulls another cork. Next comes “The Strong man” nutcracker, aka Mar cello. From stomping grapes asa child to pressing olive sand finally cracking nuts, his muscles have developed over the years to make this strong man a great helping hand in the home. Then ins pins “The Ballerina” Valentina, a music box featuring a pirouetting baby elephant.
Every big top has its clown, and the Alessi circus is home to “The Candy man ”, aka Alberto, a candy dispenser. Finally, the fun is over seen by Massimo ,“The Ringer leader”, a call bell that lets everyone know when it’ s time to start the party.
