NEED a road trip to a small town bursting with art? Then the Kuala Kubu Baru International Art Festival 2016, which is now on at the Syed Mashor Library, Kuala Kubu Baru, Hulu Selangor in Selangor, is the place to be.
The festival – promoting the theme “Art Haven In The Hills” – is all about bringing the arts closer to the masses. The Sasaran Arts Association has come forward to help with the artist networking and programming, while the fest is supported by the local council Majlis Daerah Hulu Selangor, Selangor state library (PPAS), Kuala Kubu History Association, the Hulu Selangor Youth Association and a team of volunteers.
The community-based festival, which includes local and international artists, features painting workshops, sculpture, street art, mural works, music, art talks and exhibitions. The main highlight of the fest is the open studio at Syed Mashor Library, which will host 30 artists from 14 countries.
Kuala Kubu Baru, which is known as the first “garden city” in Malaysia. is a small town located at the foothills of Fraser’s Hill.
Daily sightseeing tours are also available, taking visitors to the beautiful small town’s sites like Merdeka Hall, King George VI Coronation Clock Tower, Coates Theatre and more. The Kuala Kubu Baru International Art Festival 2016 runs till Dec 10.
