FOLLOWING a short hiatus, it was Checkpoint Week.

The girls were ferried to a secret location in sleek Maserati cars and sequestered for five days with a line-up of exciting activities that were kept as a surprise.

Adding an unexpected twist to the competition, finalist Zara Tam decided to drop out due to personal reasons.

Official Juice Cleanse Partner, La Juiceria Superfoods organised a Women Entrepreneurs Empowerment sharing session featuring successful female entrepreneurs: La Juiceria founder and managing director Annabelle Co-Martinent, Ash Be Nimble founder Hui Mathews and Twenty3 founder Sherlyn Tan.

During the session, the finalists gained useful insights into building a brand and a business over coldpressed juices and healthy bites.

Part of the training to become a beauty queen involves keeping fit and staying in shape.

Official fitness partner Fitology provided a customised training regime for each finalist and finalist Gina Phillips emerged the winner of the challenge.

Meanwhile, activewear sponsor ash be nimble conducted a photo shoot challenge focused on aerial arts at Viva Vertical.

Three winners from each category were announced – Peh Leon for Pole, Samantha Katie James for Lyra Hoop and Laura Simon for Aerial Silk.

From the three, Ash Be Nimble will be choosing a winner to represent the face of the brand.

Later that evening, the girls got dolled up for a special preview of the Miss Universe Malaysia crown at the CERES Jewels boutique where they admired the crown and mingled with past beauty queens including Kiran Jassal, Vanessa Tevi Kumares and Deborah Henry.

For the swimwear photo shoot challenge, the girls only had 10 minutes each to pose in their swimwear by Malibu Beachwear.

Finalist Ollemadthee Kunasagaran was judged winner with the best photo in this round.

That same evening, the girls got to let their hair down at the launch party for hurr.tv, a new online interactive channel and rubbed shoulders with several local celebrities.

At the next photo shoot challenge with official skincare sponsor senZues, the girls posed in groups of twos and threes to deliver the brand’s key message ‘Not Just the Face, Attraction is Body Affection’ with guidance from mentors Miss Universe Malaysia 2016 Kiran Jassal and guest judge Venice Min.

Finalists Savina Devi K. Thamilavanan and Sonia Naidu Devakrishnan emerged champions of this round with their creative pose.

Rounding up the week was the personality shoot by aesthetics and beauty clinic partner, Clinic RX.

In this fun photo shoot, finalists had the opportunity to showcase their true self via a selection of props.
