A new player enters the Android fray
A NEW challenger has arrived, so goes the line from the Capcom videogame classic, Street Fighter II.
The description is also apt for the Hong Kong-based Infinix Mobile, a new smartphone player in this country that has just launched three new Android smartphones, namely the Infinix Zero 4, Zero 4 Plus and Hot 4 Pro.
The Zero 4 and Zero 4 Plus are the hero phones in the range while the Hot 4 Pro is the entry-level model.
The Zero 4 Plus supports 4G, runs on the MediaTek Helio X20 MT6797M 2.0GHz deca-core (that’s 10 cores) processor, comes with a 5.98in full HD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, 4,000mAh battery and microSD slot.
Next down the line is the Zero 4, which is also a 4G phone and comes with an MediaTek MT6753 1.3GHz octa-core processor, 5.5in FullHD display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage and a 3,200mAh battery.
Both phones’ rear-facing cameras – 21 megapixels on the Zero 4 Plus and 16 megapixels on the Zero 4 – boast optical image stabilisation and laser-assisted autofocus. Front-facing cameras are 13 megapixels and 8 megapixels respectively.
On the budget front, there’s the Hot 4 Pro and its main selling point is that it comes with dual speakers.
Other notable features – it runs on a MediaTek MT6737 1.3GHz quad-core processor – include a 5.5in 720p display, 16GB storage, 2GB RAM and a 4,000mAh battery.
The rear camera is a 13-megapixel model while the front-facing one is a 5-megapixel.
All phones run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but there are plans to push out an update in July for Android 7.0 Nougat.
All three models will be available at authorised dealers as well as online at Lazada Malaysia, with the Infinix Zero 4 going for RM999 and available in Lilac Grey while the Hot 4 Pro goes for RM599 and comes in a choice of Lilac Grey, Champagne Gold and Galaxy Blue.
The Zero 4 and Hot 4 Pro will be available this week but the Zero 4 Plus will only hit stores in April and pricing has yet to be finalised.
