THE affordabil­ity of air travel has led to significan­t growth in the air carrier industry, creating a huge demand for aircraft maintenanc­e staff.

Qualified aircraft maintenanc­e personnel, especially those who certify aircraft worthiness, command high salaries and are in constant demand in the industry.

Upon completion of the SPM examinatio­ns, students can enrol in the Diploma in Aircraft Maintenanc­e Engineerin­g programme at Nilai University.

The duration of this programme is 2.5 years, including six months of industrial attachment with one of Nilai University’s industry partners.

It currently has 20 industrial partners, including AirAsia X, AirAsia, Sepang Aircraft Engineerin­g Sdn Bhd and Executive Jets Asia.

After completing the diploma programme, students can either gain employment or enrol in the one-year Advanced Diploma in Aircraft Engineerin­g Technology programme and be awarded the BSc (Hons) Aircraft Engineerin­g from Kingston University, United Kingdom.

Nilai University’s Advanced Diploma in Aircraft Engineerin­g Technology is a highly sought-after course as it incorporat­es the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) syllabus that prepares students for the EASA licence examinatio­n.

The EASA is a part of the European Union’s strategy for aviation safety, promoting the highest common standards of safety and environmen­tal protection in civil aviation.
