ADVENTUROU­S drivers in search of their perfect rides should check out Isuzu’s limited edition mu-X Type S sports utility vehicle as well as the Z-Prestige and V-Cross range of D-Max pick-up trucks.

For instance, the four-wheel driven seven-seater Type S that uses the D-Max’s platform, is priced on-the-road with GST and insurance at RM181,841 and comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.

There’s a host of premium features included such as the rocker plate with an illuminate­d ‘Isuzu mu-X’ logo, keyless-entry with push-start button, 8.0-inch audio display system and ivory-coloured leather upholstery to play up the premium experience.

As standard, there’s a 65-litre fuel tank that feeds the 4JK1-TCX 2.5-litre (2,499cc) VGS turbodiese­l engine producing 136PS at 3,400rpm and 320Nm of torque from 1,800 to 2,800rpm,

A five-speed automatic gearbox with sequential shift manages power delivery to all four 17-inch wheels fitted with 255/65 series tyres.

For stopping power, disc brakes have been fitted all-round, while ride and handling comes from its front independen­t double wishbone and rear five-link suspension system coupled with the hydraulic double action telescopic shock absorbers.

Other features include a shark fin antenna, piano black interior dashboard, door and air-condition vent trims, body-coloured front and rear skirting, rear bumper garnish as well as “Type S” badges.

New to the list of standard safety features is hill start assist, which expands on the existing dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distributi­on, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control and ISOFIX with top tethers for the second row seats.

But, if the Type S doesn’t seem to tickle the fancies then perhaps one of the three lifestyle-oriented 2.5litre turbodiese­l D-Max Z-Prestige models might, such as the elegant Silky White Pearl, rugged Stallion Black or the Velvet Red Mica with its more adventurou­s dispositio­n.

Each pick-up truck has its own exclusive colour-coordinate­d theme and comes with a five-year or 150,000km warranty (whichever comes first), along with an on-theroad price with GST and insurance at RM122,080 for each.

Opting for the 3.0-litre (2,999cc) 4JJ1-TCX turbodiese­l engine variant with 177PS at 3,600rpm and 380Nm of torque from 1,800 to 2,800rpm for the five-speed gearbox to manage raises the price to RM130,068 before adding the ‘V-Cross’ moniker.

With themes in mind, the Silky White Pearl variant aims to attract with its more presentabl­e outlook and is accompanie­d by a set of silver 18-inch wheels and the luxurious feel of the brown with black accented premium Italian leather upholstery.

In similar fashion, the Stallion Black gets black with silver accented leather, while the Velvet Red Mica variant has black with red accents and both get fitted with grey alloy wheels.

Regardless of engine variant, each Z-Prestige comes equipped with keyless-entry and push-start button, projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, automatic climate controls, 8.0-inch touch-screen DVD player, 8-speaker surround sound system, e-LUMAX instrument cluster with multi-informatio­n display, multimedia ports and smartphone compartmen­t.

Also, safety has been standardis­ed to include dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distributi­on, brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control and hill start assist.
