KIA’s latest generation Grand Carnival multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) delivers comfort and spaciousness in a stylish package.

The all-new Grand Carnival, comes with Kia’s catchy and recognisable bold face featuring a wide, upright ‘tiger nose’ grille - a Peter Schreyer trademark.

Together with the wrap-around headlamps and framed fog lamps, it has a look of modernity with an imposing appearance.

Sleeker compared with the previous generation model, the new MPV is 5,115mm long and has a longer wheelbase at 3,060mm.

Its height of 1,740mm and width of 1,985mm give it a wider looking stance portraying a more refined and sophisticated profile.

Powering the Grand Carnival is a 2.2-litre CRDi turbocharged diesel engine designed for efficiency and performance.

It is also fitted with a torque converter six-speed automatic transmission for power and smooth driving.

This engine produces 190hp with 440Nm of torque, answering the calls for power and fuel economy.

The on-the-road price with insurance for the Grand Carnival 2.2D EX is RM185,888 while the Grand Carnival 2.2D KX costs RM165,888.

The rear features wide rear lamps and broad metal surfaces thus giving it a solid character.

The EX variant also has a smart powered tailgate which opens automatically when the key is sensed in close proximity and two power sliding-doors that open at just a touch of a button.

The interior is well designed, fitted with high quality materials and up-to-date technological features.

The look and feel of the interior of the Grand Carnival was designed with a feel of a first-class airplane as its key influence.

Fitted with individual leather wrapped seats, the front and second rows are treated with overhead consoles and trizone fully automatic air-conditioning ventilators for the best comfort of its passengers.

The Grand Carnival is also equipped with a range of multimedia entertainment systems such as a MP3 CD player with six speakers, USB and AUX-in connectivity.

It also comes with a 4.3-inch TFT LCD colour display touchscreen and is fitted with a reverse camera.

For parking assistance, it has front and rear parking sensors.

It is also fitted with a tilting and telescopic steering wheel, foot parking brake and auto cruise control.

Its spacious interior can be made larger with third row seats folded completely to a flat position to provide more baggage space.

The interior of the new Grand Carnival has increased legroom space for its passengers.

It also provides more headroom space due to the lower seat cush- ions.

The roof of the Grand Carnival no longer slopes towards the tailgate and this allows the third row passengers to get more headroom.

Retaining the front MacPherson and rear multi-link rear suspension from its predecessor, the new Grand Carnival gets hydraulic rebound springs, stiffer suspension bars and cross-member bush mountings to improve its bump absorption, thus enhancing passenger comfort levels.

Aside from the 18-inch alloy wheels, its also features electronic stability control, hill start assist, six airbags and high-intensity dis- charge (HID) head lamps with daytime running lights.
