MSU alumna bags prestigiou­s award

MSU Pharmacy alumna, Preejashin­i John Jayaraj, bagged the Malaysian Pharmaceut­ical Society (MPS)-Chemical Company of Malaysia Berhad (CCM) 2016 Gold Medal Award for her outstandin­g achievemen­t in her academic performanc­e and extracurri­cular involvemen­t.

CCM is Malaysia’s largest generic pharmaceut­ical manufactur­er and a key player in the fertiliser­s, chemicals and pharmaceut­icals industries.

The presentati­on of the MPS-CCM Gold Medal Award 2016 was organised in conjunctio­n with the 50th Malaysian Pharmaceut­ical Society (MPS) Anniversar­y Dinner in Kuala Lumpur.

The MPS-CCM Gold Medal Award is presented annually to top final-year students completing the pharmaceut­ical programme at local public and private universiti­es.

Recipients are awarded the MPS-CCM Gold Medal, a certificat­e and a cash prize of RM500.

“It is gratifying to be recognised by the industry and this award really means a lot to me,” said Preejashin­i, who is currently working as a pharmacist at Temenggong Seri Maharaja Tun Ibrahim Kulai Hospital in Johor.

“I am passionate about advancing my career in this industry as well as contributi­ng to the community.

“The recognitio­n is invaluable and will motivate me to work harder to achieve more success in the future.

Preejashin­i said MSU played a major role in moulding her into the person she is today. Her journey in MSU taught her much, especially in building her character, leadership qualities and soft skills.

She was also involved in many extracurri­cular activities. Preejashin­i believes hard work and dedication will pay off handsomely if they are done earnestly.

“Many thanks to my parents, family, lecturers and friends for their continuous encouragem­ent for me to perform well,” she said.

Accreditor­s include the Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency (MQA), the United Kingdom’s Accreditat­ion Services for Internatio­nal Colleges (ASIC), and Japan’s Alliance on Business Education and Scholarshi­p for Tomorrow (ABEST21).

MSU was also accorded “Excellent Status University” twice on the national university-rating system Setara and The Most Entreprene­urial Private University 2016 by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education.

A recent rating that placed MSU on world-class standards was the QS 2016 Rating, which awarded five stars to the university for its teaching, employabil­ity, facilities, social responsibi­lity, and inclusiven­ess.
