Abuzz with buka puasa offerings
THE much anticipated annual Ramadan Bazaar at Kompleks Bukit Jambul (KBJ) in Penang is back to indulge taste buds with an extensive array of mouth-watering food from May 27 to June 24.
A favourite food hunting hotspot for both Muslims and non-Muslims, this year’s event at the mall’s Promenade will feature 32 stalls that are open from 3pm to 8pm daily.
Here is one of the best places to taste some of the most sumptuous Malay dishes such as bubur lambuk (rice porridge), nasi dagang, satay, ayampercik , ikan bakar, murtabak and laksa.
There are also a variety of traditional kuih muih like kuih seri muka and lepat pisang, jalaemas , putu mayam, agar-agar and the list goes on. There is just simply so much to choose from!
And not forgetting thirst quenchers including the popular ABC (air batu campur or syrupy ice shavings with condiments), cincau (jelly drink), soya bean and sugar cane juice.
The stalls are a constant hive of activities as the traders cook up a storm. Everything looks so delicious and tempting!
The food is affordably priced so that everyone can join in the fun.
Be prepared for the thronging crowd and shouting frenzy that make for a truly local atmosphere. Shoppers will also get the opportunity to vote for the best decorated stall on June 18.
