THE Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus were announced earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Spain, but only one has made its way to Malaysia.

According to Lenovo Malaysia MBG marketing manager Teoh Eu Jin, the G5 Plus is more suited for the market here.

“The G5 has a 5in screen and the G5 Plus has a 5.2in screen, which we believe is the minimum display size preferred by smartphone users in this country,” said Teoh. The full HD screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The G5 Plus is also the first in the series to sport a metal casing, as inspired by the premium Moto Z family. It comes with a diamond-cut aluminium finish that minimises fingerprint marks on the back of the phone.

The 12-megapixel camera has a wider f/1.7 aperture, which is claimed to allow up to 25% more light than the G4 Plus, for better low-light photography.

The G5 Plus is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower charging that supposedly gives up to six hours of battery life with 15 minutes of charging.

It packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage that’s expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Although it isn’t dust or water resistant, the G5 Plus has a water-repellent nano-coating that could withstand minor water splashes.

Priced at RM1,299, the G5 Plus comes in Lunar Gray and Fine Gold and will be available in stores from today onwards.
