Its vol­un­teers com­prise work­ing adults and stu­dents who are pas­sion­ate about em­pow­er­ing youth through ed­u­ca­tion. For the month of Ra­mad­han, Global Peace Malaysia is host­ing an interfaith event gath­er­ing of peo­ple from all walks of life and re­li­gious back­grounds, in­clud­ing refugees in Malaysia, to ap­pre­ci­ate and cel­e­brate unity in diver­sity. Global Peace Foun­da­tion will be col­lab­o­rat­ing with The Picha Project, who will be pro­vid­ing spreads of home­made food made by refugees, as well as ac­com­mo­dat­ing a shar­ing ses­sion by refugees with the com­mu­nity. The aim is to pro­vide an in­clu­sive plat­form for the com­mu­ni­ties to in­ter­act, share and de­velop mu­tual re­spect de­spite dif­fer­ences.

Tick­ets: RM50 per ticket (in­cludes fo­rum by no­table speak­ers, food made by refugees from six dif­fer­ent na­tions, and do­na­tion). Time: 5.30pm-8.30pm.

If you’re a lover of clas­si­cal mu­sic, then spend an evening lis­ten­ing to renowned Span­ish cel­list Ivan Tor­res and Span­ish award-win­ning pi­anist Mireia Frutos who will present cello and piano sonatas fea­tur­ing the works of Brahms, De­bussy and Shostakovich. Tor­res has recorded for Span­ish ra­dio, tele­vi­sion and film and has per­formed ex­ten­sively in Spain, Lon­don, Ger­many, France and Italy. This recital pre­sented by Kien Strings in­tro­duces two Hong Kong mu­si­cians, cel­list Eric Yip and pi­anist Dr Crys­tal Lam. Yip at­tained his Mas­ter of Mu­sic from the Chicago Col­lege of Per­form­ing Arts un­der the tute­lage of John Sharp and Richard Hirschl. Lam stud­ied piano at the Hong Kong Academy for Per­form­ing Arts ju­nior pro­gramme at the age of five, was awarded schol­ar­ship for Out­stand­ing Merit, and com­pleted her bach­e­lor de­gree with first class honours at the HKAPA. Chil­dren be­low the age of five years are not al­lowed at this event. Tick­ets: RM68 (nor­mal), RM48 (stu­dent/se­nior cit­i­zen/dis­abled), RM61 (Dcard mem­bers; ver­i­fi­ca­tion needed for ticket col­lec­tion). The talk sets the path to ex­pe­ri­ence the un­fold­ing of the hu­man po­ten­tial.
