- — THOMAS HUONG

BOOKINGS for the new 2017 Honda CR-V sport utility vehicle can be placed at all 91 Honda showrooms nationwide.

Standard in all variants are six airbags, vehicle stability assist (VSA), a reverse camera and smart entry and push-start button for convenience.

The fifth generation CR-V is bigger than its predecessor, and it sports wing-shaped LED daytime running lights, and LED headlights, tail and brake lights.

A tailgate spoiler and dual tone alloy wheels complete the sporty looks.

The ground clearance is 198mm (2WD) or 208mm (4WD), providing a bolder stance.

The 2017 CR-V has a more powerful 1.5-litre VTEC turbocharged engine mated to an upgraded Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT).

Developed under Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology, this new powertrain generates 193ps at 5,600 rpm, and torque of 243Nm at 2,000 – 5,000rpm.

Honda says the 2017 CR-V continues to offer sedan-like handling, and provides class-leading interior spaciousness.

Cargo space can be up to 1,084 litres when the rear seats are on flat mode.

For the first time, Honda Malaysia is introducing its comprehensive suite of Honda Sensing safety and driver-assist technologies in the CR-V, in order to avoid or mitigate the severity of a collision.

Honda Sensing uses both a monocular camera and millimetre wave radar to enable a more com- plete view of the road.

The Honda Sensing safety suite consists of adaptive cruise control (ACC), low-speed follow (LSF), forward collision warning (FCW), collision mitigation braking system (CMBS), lane keeping assist system (LKAS), road departure mitigation (RDM), and lane departure warning (LDW) that will provide driver’s cruising aid, frontal and side collision deterrence.
