Graduates with an edge

-

QUALIFIED accountants are in demand around the world to help businesses, government, organisations and individuals with finance management.

The field of finance can take Curtin graduates anywhere in the world, working in corporate finance for big, well-known institutions.

It is a dynamic field concerning the management, creation and study of money, banking, credit, investments, assets and liabilities that make up the financial systems.

As Curtin University’s largest international branch, Curtin Malaysia’s Department of Accounting of the Faculty of Business offers the Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) double-major to students aiming to specialise in that field.

The three-year, full-time course is the most popular double-major combinations Curtin University offers both its campuses in Perth, Western Australia and Miri, Sarawak.

Other accounting double-major courses offered are accounting and banking, and accounting and entrepreneurship.

The course is recognised by the Malaysian Government through the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Public Services Department.

It is also widely recognised by CPA Australia, Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (CIMA) and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK (ACCA).

Graduates can obtain membership in CPA Australia, ICAA or ACCA, and are eligible for membership in MICPA, CIMA and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business is among the world’s elite business institutions following accreditation of its parent Curtin Business School (CBS) at Curtin University by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

As Curtin Malaysia offers identical business programmes and course delivery as the CBS, Curtin Malaysia’s Faculty of Business underwent the same AACSB peer review accreditation as Curtin’s other campuses in Perth and Singapore.

The AACSB is the leading international accreditation body for business schools and AACSB accreditation requires that all campuses meet strict standards of academic quality.

Students can opt to complete all three years at Curtin Malaysia or transfer to the main campus for year two and three.

Curtin Malaysia business graduates have gained employment in diverse professional roles and business areas across the globe.

Graduates can look forward to lucrative careers as professional accountants, auditors, financial analysts, financial planners, finance managers, investment bankers, fund managers and futures traders, both within Malaysia and internationally.

Students also learn from experienced teaching staff, and are exposed to some of the industry’s top employers through opportunities such as sponsored field trips, internships, real-life scenarios and practical assignments, guest lectures by industry professionals, and networking events.

Curtin Malaysia is a popular choice for both Malaysian and international students from over 45 countries because of its international outlook, innovative courses, world-class teaching facilities, flexible study options, applied and practical subjects, use of advanced technology, and partnerships with industry and government.

The relatively lower tuition fees and living costs compared to undergoing the same courses at the main campus is also a big draw. In a nutshell, students get a quality Australian education and global learning experience in a unique Malaysian setting, and at Malaysian fees.

Curtin Malaysia’s July 2017 intake is now in progress.
