Ca­reer op­tions in medicine and health sciences

THE In­ter­na­tional Med­i­cal Univer­sity (IMU) wel­comes prospec­tive stu­dents and their par­ents to its Open Day on July 9 at the univer­sity’s cam­pus in Bukit Jalil from 10am to 4pm.

IMU has been Malaysia’s first and most es­tab­lished pri­vate med­i­cal and health­care univer­sity with over 25 years of ded­i­cated fo­cus in health­care ed­u­ca­tion.

Those who are worried about not be­ing able to make it to the Open Day in Kuala Lumpur should not miss the op­por­tu­nity to meet IMU’s fac­ulty mem­bers at our Info Days.

The Info Days will start in Kuch­ing on July 8 at Hil­ton Kuch­ing fol­lowed by Kota Kin­a­balu on July 9 at Prom­e­nade Ho­tel. The Info Days con­tinue on July 15 at Grand Paragon Ho­tel, Jo­hor Baru and The Wem­b­ley – A St Giles Ho­tel, Pe­nang.

The Info Days con­clude in Me­laka and Ipoh on July 16 at Hol­i­day Inn, Me­laka, and Weil Ho­tel, Ipoh. Th­ese Info Days will run from 10am to 4pm.

The Open Day and Info Days will give prospec­tive stu­dents the chance to ob­tain first-hand in­for­ma­tion on how the univer­sity’s high-qual­ity aca­demic pro­grammes (pre-univer­sity, un­der­grad­u­ate and post­grad­u­ate lev­els) can pro­vide them en­try to promis­ing ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties.

They can also chat with fac­ulty mem­bers about life in IMU and seek ad­vice and in­for­ma­tion on a va­ri­ety of is­sues such as ca­reer ad­van­tages of dif­fer­ent pro­grammes, ap­pli­ca­tion pro­ce­dures, fi­nanc­ing – in­clud­ing fees and fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance – and ac­com­mo­da­tion. It is also an op­por­tu­nity to find out more about the full and par­tial schol­ar­ships for those with ex­cel­lent aca­demic re­sults and the 25th An­niver­sary spe­cial bur­sary.

Dur­ing the July 9 IMU Open Day, vis­i­tors can look around the univer­sity and its fa­cil­i­ties. Cur­rent stu­dents will be on-hand as “am­bas­sadors” through­out the day. This en­ables vis­i­tors to take ad­van­tage of the talks, tours and lab demon­stra­tions.

The stu­dent-led cam­pus tour through­out the day gives prospec­tive stu­dents a look at the cam­pus’ ed­u­ca­tional fa­cil­i­ties.

The tour in­cludes all of the main ar­eas of the cam­pus, in­clud­ing the gym, stu­dent cen­tre, cater­ing out­lets, lec­ture the­atres, the Clin­i­cal Skills and Simulation Cen­tre, mul­ti­dis­ci­plinary and e-learn­ing lab­o­ra­to­ries, the Learn­ing Re­sources, re­search lab­o­ra­tory and in­stru­men­tal room with a tablet­ing ma­chine.

This is the op­por­tu­nity to learn more about the tools and tech­nol­ogy avail­able along with the aca­demic sup­port and ser­vices that the univer­sity pro­vides to fa­cil­i­tate a rich learn­ing ex­pe­ri­ence and help a stu­dent achieve his po­ten­tial.

Ap­ply for any of IMU’s pro­grammes dur­ing the Open or Info Days and get a waiver of up to RM800 (ex­cept for Medicine and Den­tistry). This is your op­por­tu­nity to ap­ply for the July or Septem­ber 2017 in­take.

Stu­dents in­ter­ested in a Diploma in Nurs­ing will have the op­por­tu­nity to find out more dur­ing the Open Day.

The Diploma in Nurs­ing is of­fered by the In­ter­na­tional Med­i­cal Col­lege, a col­lege es­tab­lished 24 years ago with a rep­u­ta­tion in pro­vid­ing qual­ity nurs­ing ed­u­ca­tion and is well recog­nised lo­cally and in­ter­na­tion­ally.
