JULY 7: The Syok Rock Show, hosted by Zazz Production­s, is set to be a rock ’n’ roll extravagan­za with spectacula­r guitar strumming and soaring vocals. It will feature key acts that have made a name for themselves in the local indie and rock scene. They include Shh Diam!, a bunch of upbeat musicians with hints of feisty feminism and youthful punk; Billie Blue & The Nowhere Men, which boasts all-star talents such as Billie Blue, Soheil Sanjabi, Icco and Reuben of Cats in Love fame; and Kaya, who will rock the stage with their infectious cover beats, dance tunes, and more. Special guests are The Swipes and James and the van der Beeks. Indie darling, Kyoto Protocol, no stranger to the big or small stage, will also be hamming it up with its catchy, head-bopping melodies. TOMORROW TILL JULY 9: The Light of Dust is a brand new collaborat­ion by See Production Studio and Charles Jong, where the original creative inspiratio­n is from the published 111 Love Letters To Heaven by activist/ writer DaPan, as well as the song Farewell by the late TaiXiang Lee. The categories are: solo and duet. i-Sing is the biggest singing competitio­n that offers the best platform for all aspiring singers to showcase their talent. SATURDAY TILL JULY 9: The world lost Paul Smith when he was the age of 85, but not before several generation­s had an opportunit­y to admire his distinct and intricate gallery of art. Known worldwide as the “Typewriter Artist”, Smith’s story spans eight decades, seven in which he created typewriter art. He had severe spastic cerebral palsy that affected his speech, mobility and fine motor co-ordination. He created works using only a handful of symbol keys on the top row of his typewriter keyboard. This exhibition also features the creative works of Angel Wong, Dhyannah Low, Ho Yoon See, Low Pey Sien and Sophia Chang. Time: 3pm-5.30pm (Saturday) and 9am-6pm (Sunday to July 9).
