Myvi reaches one mil­lionth mile­stone

THE Pero­dua Myvi reached its one mil­lionth pro­duc­tion unit in May, mak­ing it the most pro­duced Malaysian car in his­tory. A Malaysian icon for over 12 years, the Myvi was in­tro­duced in May 2005 and be­came the coun­try’s top sell­ing car un­til end-2014 when the Pero­dua Axia was launched.

The Myvi con­tin­ues to be among the top sell­ing cars in the coun­try.

Pero­dua pres­i­dent and chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Datuk Ami­nar Rashid Salleh said the Myvi had been sold in 7 coun­tries since 2006, in­clud­ing Sri Lanka, Mau­ri­tius, Brunei, Sin­ga­pore, Bri­tain, Fiji and Nepal un­der the Pero­dua brand.

The Myvi’s big­gest ex­port mar­ket is In­done­sia un­der the Dai­hatsu Sirion brand with nearly 31,000 ve­hi­cles sold since 2007.

Pero­dua has ex­ported 35,400 Myvi/Sirion mod­els since 2006 in these mar­kets.

“We will con­tinue sell­ing the Myvi as de­mand is still strong,” said Ami­nar at a re­cent press brief­ing on Pu­lau Redang, Tereng­ganu.

Mean­while, Pero­dua Sales Sdn Bhd manag­ing di­rec­tor Datuk Dr Za­hari Husin said the com­pany is “lis­ten­ing to its cus­tomers harder than ever be­fore.”

For ex­am­ple, in the past, it usu­ally takes Pero­dua at least 18 months to in­tro­duce an en­hanced model, fol­low­ing its de­but.

“How­ever, the up­dated Bezza was in­tro­duced less than a year fol­low­ing its of­fi­cial de­but in July last year,” said Za­hari.

Re­cently, the Bezza re­ceived en­hanced styling which in­cludes new chrome plat­inum fin­ish for the Premium X and for the Ad­vance Version.

The Bezza Ad­vance Version also comes with a new leather seat de­sign.

Pero­dua Auto Cor­po­ra­tion Sdn Bhd pres­i­dent Masanori Taka­hashi plac­ing the Pero­dua logo on the one mil­lionth Myvi while vice-pres­i­dent Datuk Zainal Abidin Ah­mad and work­ers cheer him on.
