A versatile degree

-

EVER dreamt of a versatile degree that can provide you with a multitude of course options as well as prepare you for a professional career?

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) is an undergraduate academic degree that provides just that.

The Monash University Malaysia BSc is an internationally recognised academic degree that gives you the freedom you want.

Among the different majors offered are applied biochemistry, applied microbiology, biotechnology, medicinal chemistry, psychology and tropical environmental biology.

There are different majors to choose from, and how you mix and match those majors will pave the pathway for the career of your choice.

Unlike a specialised degree like the Bachelor of Biotechnology, the BSc offers you the best fit, as it provides you with a variety of different majors to choose from.

Unlike the Bachelor of Biotechnology, you will not be obliged to complete the compulsory electives set under the programme.

There are two components to the BSc – the major and the elective.

A third of the degree is left for the elective and you are at liberty of choosing courses from different disciplines to fill up the required credits for an elective programme.

The areas of study students can major in include Applied Microbiology, Biotechnology, Medicinal Chemistry, Psychology and Tropical Environmental Biology.

Apart from that students also have the option to go for a double degree.

The double degree structure programme that Monash Malaysia offers is much aligned to providing you with greater career options.

You will be able to take up the BSc and another degree at the same time, and complete both in less time than if doing them separately.

BSc students are also given the flexibility to transfer their credits from Monash Malaysia to Monash Australia.

As far as employability goes, doing a science degree allows students to develop generic yet critical skills – quantitative literacy, data analysis, information literacy, problem solving, critical thinking, communication and presentation skills, and the capacity to work in teams.

These skills can be applied to any career, and are not related to science-based jobs only. It is important to know that not every BSc graduate becomes a scientist.

The flexibility within the BSc boosts career prospects, leaving graduates with the options of diverse and interesting careers.

You can use the BSc degree as a “launch pad” to gain employment in banks, universities, finance companies and many other organisations.

Science is a way of life and the BSc is a degree that offers endless possibilities to its graduates.
