It won the Persatuan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) Awards 2014 for Excellence in Architecture in the interior design category.
Adjacent to the popular Setia City Mall, the Centre offers a comprehensive range of facilities. It comprises a grand ballroom with 2,000 seating capacity and eight function halls and also boasts a unique green event lawn overlooking the oval lawn. It is just 40 minutes from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre and Kuala Lumpur International Airport and is easily accessible through the New Klang Valley Expressway via the dedicated Setia Alam Interchange.
The new 6,000sq m (64,583.46sq ft) hall is columnless with a height of 10m to 12m and divisible into two halls. In addition, the car park at the Centre will increase up to 1,800 parking lots dedicated for event participants. Besides, the adjacent Setia City Mall has additional parking lots of 2,400 for a bigger capacity event. The brand new hall, opened since November 2016 encompasses individual dropoff areas, VIP holding rooms, reception, organiser’s office and three meeting rooms.
It would be able to accommodate up to 350 booths for exhibitions, 4,000 people in banquet style seating and up to 7,500 people in theatre style arrangement. This hall boasts its longest partition board in the country that has been validated by the Malaysia Book of Records.
Templer’s Ballroom: Templer’s Ballroom (the Ballroom) is a true masterpiece, rich in ambience and beauty. It is an ideal venue for conferences, meetings, seminars, weddings and more that can house up to 700 guests. The Ballroom can be further divided into two smaller ballrooms catering for 250 guests each and four meeting rooms complement the main ballroom.
As a prelude to the main event, the pre-function foyer boasts breathtaking scenery.
Penang: The Subterranean Penang International Convention and Exhibition Centre (SPICE): Strategically located at Bayan Lepas, Penang with multiple access points, the SPICE development consists of the SPICE Convention Centre, SPICE Arena, SPICE Aquatic Centre, SPICE Canopy and a Business Class Hotel. The SPICE Convention Centre is the first hybrid solar-powered convention centre in the world and also regarded as the first Eco Green GBI-certified Subterranean Convention Centre in Southeast Asia.
The world-class convention centre comprises contiguous space of 4,459sq m (48,000sq ft) flexible column-free ballroom that can accommodate 400 round banquet tables or maximum capacity of 8000 in theatre seating. For bigger events, the 1,858sq m (20,000sq ft) pre-function area outside can be extended to accommodate another 150 round banquet tables with integration between both spaces.
The 13 meeting rooms, both on the lower and ground floors also allows guests to hold meetings or functions in a smaller group. Atop the convention centre is a 2.43ha (6 acre) green rooftop park, suitable for soft outdoor events. SPICE Arena will be connected to the SPICE Convention Centre via a covered walkway. It has played host to a series of major events. It also provides 10,000 terrace seats surrounding and is supported by seven meeting rooms. It is by far the largest and most comprehensive multi-purpose indoor venue in the Northern region of Malaysia.
The SPICE Aquatic Centre provides a choice of both wet and dry activities, while SPICE Canopy is a one-stop lifestyle venue. Adjacent to the convention centre will be a business class hotel earmarked for completion in 2019 that will be well connected to the convention centre.
