Gladiator

Cinemax, Astro Ch 412, 11.50am This epic film features Russell Crowe in his physical prime as the titular gladiator Maximus Decimus, who rises from ruin and despair to exact revenge on the emperor’s son Commodus, who murdered both the emperor as well as Maximus’ entire family. Maximus’ defiance in the face of Commodus’ increasing frustration at his growing popularity becomes one of the movie’s focal points and the fights in the gladiator arena are nothing short of spellbinding (although do expect lots of blood and gore). The film, released in 2000, won multiple Academy Awards including a Best Actor nod for Crowe, so tune in and enjoy the visual extravaganza!
