HAVE you always wanted to enter a top UK A-level boarding college? Got the grades but do not know how or when to apply? Fret not, an info session on UK’s top A-Level boarding college for international students is coming to Malaysia this August.

Concord College is an international co-educational college that provides day and boarding places.

Founded in 1949, it offers admission at Years 9 up to the sixth form at Year 12. The college ranks fourth in the Independent Schools League Table (using ISC data) and 10th in The Times’ School League table (co-educational schools).

Academic study is vigorously promoted as the most important aspect of the college. Its curriculum is designed to support students’ strengths while offering a breadth of choice from suitably rigorous subjects.

All GCSE (Year 10) students will study Mathematics, English and Sciences. In addition, they can choose from a range of subjects, including Art, Astronomy, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, French, Geography, German, History, Music, Religious Studies and Statistics.

For those who have already begun studying Latin or Spanish, additional options also exist. Sixth Form (Year 12) students can choose to study either three or four subjects to A-Level plus one or two subjects to AS-Level. Subjects offered include Art, Biology, Chemistry, Economics, English, French, Further Mathematics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Photography, Physics and Spanish. Students are also invited to sit for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

At Concord College, lessons are carefully planned to encourage students to develop independence, engagement and interest.

As expert subject knowledge, teachers pass on their enthusiasm through challenging and exciting lessons, using an excellent range of resources.

Rigorous assessment systems monitor students’ progress frequently in order to improve their achievement and deal rapidly with any shortfall.

The curriculum also caters to international students with different levels of English Language competency.

The teachers work closely with the students to help them become fluent in the language, which is integral to their success in all the subjects they study.

Concord College also offers a rich and varied extra-curricular programme, which is individually matched to the students’ abilities and interests.

With excellent education standards and superb teaching staff, it is no surprise that the competition to be admitted to Concord College can be stiff.

With that in mind, info sessions will be held in various regions in Malaysia this August to help parents and students gain a better understanding of the requirements and expectations the college has of its applicants. This will help them plan out the necessary efforts required to secure a place at Concord.

The info session will then touch on the procedures and timeline for application.

It highlights the importance of certain procedures and will guide them in scheduling and allocating time for the vital stages of application.

In addition, Concord College’s alumni will also share their experience in terms of academic performance, lifestyle as well as the environment of the college, giving students and parents a sneak peek into life at Concord.

The info sessions will be held in Penang, Petaling Jaya and Kota Kinabalu on Aug 5, 12 and 19, respectively.

Due to limited space, reservations will be on first-come, first-served basis. Contact the respective ASA Overseas Education Specialist branches to book a place.

Walk-ins will not be attended to.
