Check out Taylor’s College ‘University Placement Day’

-

THE “University Placement Day 2017” will take place on Saturday, Aug 19, at the Taylor’s College Subang Jaya campus from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free and is open to all.

This event will comprise an “Education Fair” with an undergraduate studies focus as well as “Country Talks”.

The fair has invited representatives from 60 universities in Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, Singapore and the UK.

Country Talks

The Country Talks, on the other hand, will provide attendees with an overview of education options available in each of the countries.

At the fair, each of the 60 university representatives will be available to speak to students and parents individually about the types of courses and pathway programmes offered at their respective universities, as well as its admission requirements and application processes.

In a number of instances, the representatives will be able to make an on-the-spot assessment of qualifications for entry into a particular course, provided the student brings with them all the necessary academic documentation.

Selected Australian and Malaysian universities will even offer an application fee waiver for applications submitted during the event, but this will be subject to terms and conditions.

Other information on scholarships, English language proficiency requirements, on-campus/off-campus accommodation as well as student life on campus will be shared with students and parents at the fair.

The fair will feature a number of universities ranked top 100 in the recently released 2018 QS World Universities Ranking.

Australia’s Monash University, The University of Melbourne, The University of New South Wales, The University of Queensland, The University of Sydney and The University of Western Australia as well as UK’s University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Glasgow, The University of Nottingham and The University of Sheffield will be some of the highly ranked universities at the fair.

Other top 100 ranked universities include Asia’s Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, The University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Taylor’s University, as well as Australian and UK foreign branch campuses of Monash University, University of Southampton and Heriot-Watt University, will also be participating at the fair.

The Country Talks will be in the form of five different presentations, covering five countries – Australia, Hong Kong, Ireland, Singapore and theUK.

These presentations will be given by speakers from The University of Melbourne, The University of Hong Kong, University College of Dublin, Nanyang Technological University and The University of Sheffield.

The speakers will also provide general information on qualifications required for entry to the country’s universities as well as information on courses offered, tuition fees and living costs, working opportunities and scholarships.

While the “University Placement Day 2017” is open to the public, it is one of the many events and activities organised by University Placement Services (UPS) in an effort to provide comprehensive information on university, course and career options for Taylor’s students.

The office is a dedicated university placement service located within Taylor’s College.

It has organised fairs on campus for more than 12 years, targeting a specific country or region such as the Australia, Canada, Asia and UK fairs.

Upcoming fair

However, the upcoming fair this Aug 19 will be its largest international fair to date, combining six countries of interest in one day with 60 institutions participating as well as having five country talks.

The UPS advisers from the Subang Jaya and Sri Hartamas campuses will offer advice, guidance and assistance to students with applications to various institutions around the world, including those in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the UK and the US.

This assistance includes personalised counselling, consultations with local and overseas university representatives, assistance and follow-up with university applications, application preparatory sessions/workshops and pre-departure preparation.

Pre-U students, school-leavers and parents are invited to experience the “University Placement Day 2017” and have their questions regarding further education answered at this education event.
