THE Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FoEBE) in SEGi University is at the forefront of producing quality engineers who excel academically and socially. Its approach to education goes beyond the classroom as it develops innovative programmes that require students to meet mandatory work placements as part of the course syllabus.

Supported by a team of dedicated, experienced and passionate educators, students are guaranteed guidance throughout their studies. The low student to teacher ratio enables the students to receive far more personalised attention from the academic team.

SPM school-leavers can pursue their interest in engineering in either Diploma in Electronic and Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

The faculty also delivers education excellence through close collaborations with prestigious and renowned universities in the UK – University of Sunderland (UOS) and Abertay University (AU).

SEGi offers a myriad of home-grown degree programmes including architecture, quantity surveying, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering and electronic and electrical engineering.

The university, in collaboration with University of Sunderland, offers dual award programmes in mechanical, as well as electronic and electrical engineering while SEGi and Abertay University offers a double degree in civil engineering.

In pursuit of high-quality syllabus, School of Science, Engineering and Technology, division of natural and built environment head and Sustainable Development chair from Abertay Prof David Blackwood recently visited SEGi University in its flagship campus at Kota Damansara for the soft launch of the double degree programme for the inaugural September intake.

Prof Blackwood, on a working visit to SEGi University, delivered several talks on civil engineering to students titled “Environment and Engineers: Integration of Quality and Environmental management Systems” and “BIM: Building Information Modelling – How it helps in Construction Project Management”.

According to FoEBE dean Ir Prof Dr Jeffrey Chiang, the faculty aims to have 1,300 engineering students across various disciplines by year-end. The programmes offered by FoEBE are designed to equip students with various skills including analytical skills, design expertise and analytical applications to solve crucial engineering issues.

FoEBE strives to produce graduates who are able to practice as engineers in the industry or pursue postgraduate studies for professional development. Education is the first step towards achieving your goals. You are invited to join SEGi for a great experience, as its academic team will help you get started towards a great future with the career of your dreams.

Its tagline, ‘The Best in You, Made Possible”, can only be achieved by giving equal opportunity to everyone to pursue tertiary education, regardless of background. Therefore, SEGi extends scholarships such as High Achiever’s Scholarship (HAS) and financial assistance such as National Higher Education Fund (PTPTN) to deserving students. Look out for its monthly special as it offers rebates up to RM4,500 for early bird registration as well as waiver for every A scored in SPM.
