Suria concert a hit
SOME 7,000 loyal Suria fans thronged the Melaka International Trade Centre at the Melaka stop of Konsert Jelajah Suria 10 Tahun.
The concert was streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, garnering more than 120,000 views.
To warm up the crowd, there were pre-show performances by actress and singer Bella Nazari, former Miss Malaysia and singer Dewi Seriesta, Vokal Bukan Sekadar Rupa finalist Azmarul Azuan and Australian YouTube sensation Cassidy LaCreme.
Suria radio announcers DJ Lin, Abang Brian, Fizi Ali, Shahrul Shiro, Zulin Aziz, Bob Ringgo, Tyzo, Suraya Borhan and Halim Othman interacted with fans before Amy Search kicked off the concert.
The evening got off to an energetic start as the legendary rocker performed hits like Pawana, Palesit Kota and Isabella. Later, budding artistes such as Haqiem Rusli, Wany Hasrita, Tajul, Floor 88 and Syed Syamim delivered their current chart-topping hits.
Datuk Ramli Sarip, Amy Mastura, Zarul Hussin and Izzue Islam also serenaded fans at the event.
It started to rain a little towards the end of the concert but that didn’t stop fans from watching their favourite artistes perform.
“We are really grateful for the overwhelming support we received from our fans,” says assistant programming manager Roslinda Abdul Majid in a press release.
“We didn’t expect the turnout to be so good. We wanted to get closer to our fans and give them entertaining performances.”
“For the first time, the concert was streamed live on suria.my and on Facebook (Suria-Malaysia), to give fans who couldn’t be there a chance to experience it,” says Star Media Radio Group digital and brand management senior manager Shahida Azad Jamaludin.
“Even now, many people are still watching re-runs of the concert on suria.my, raking in 120,000 views.
“We’re also happy that after only three hours, the concert drew 400,000 views on Facebook Live and 16,000 positive reactions,” Shahida adds.
In conjunction with Suria’s 10th anniversary, the Malay-language radio station has been organising a series of concerts since April, with stops all over the country.
At the concerts, fans get the chance to meet their favourite music acts and Suria announcers, and take part in various fun activities to win prizes.
