Progression in the legal world
ADVANCE Tertiary College (ATC) has been helping students grow from strength to strength through the courses offered, which include Cambridge A-Levels, the University of London Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and the postgraduate Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP).
In 2009, selected courts in the nation were digitised through the introduction of the eCourts system.
Now at its second phase, the e-system will soon cover courts in peninsular Malaysia and integrate 14 government agencies.
The use of information technology in the legal practice is expected to boost the overall efficiency of the legal system.
For legal practitioners, this transition would mean providing timely yet quality legal services to their clients. It would also facilitate legal firms to venture further into cross-border legal practices.
With these changes taking place in the legal field, ATC appreciates the importance of generating graduates who are not only book smart but also industry ready.
Most of the members on ATC’s CLP faculty are seasoned practitioners dedicated to moulding students’ aptitude and attitude.
Besides guiding students through the procedural and practical aspects of law as emphasised in the CLP syllabus, ATC exposes them to correct examination techniques through interactive tutorial sessions and an intensive revision programme.
At ATC, CLP students broaden their skill sets and become familiar with the legal practice by participating in internal Moot competitions, visiting the courts and related agencies, and attending relevant public lectures or talks.
For the intakes of the CLP, LLB and A-Levels programmes, ATC’s Kuala Lumpur campus will be organising the annual Legal Careers Fair this Saturday.
This year’s Legal Careers Fair will be participated by renowned legal firms in Malaysia such as Shearn Delamore & Co, Zul Rafique & Partners, Izral Partnership, and Raja, Darryl & Loh, allowing interested students to discuss career opportunities and possible internship and/or pupilage positions.
The event is also expected to attract recruitment representatives from the corporate industry, including insurance companies, the United Nations agencies, Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) and Office Parrots.
ATC’s Legal Careers Fair will be preceded by a preview of the CLP course from noon to 2pm.
Registration for the CLP programme in the KL and Penang campuses is in progress.
