TO commemorate Malaysia’s 60th National Day, these nail art specialists got cracking on some fine art to help you show off your love for the country.

Taking inspiration from the Malaysian flag, there are designs ranging from the star, crescent and stripes to the national flower and the KL skyline.

Working on a tiny curved nail requires a certain skill and patience, and these nail art designs definitely inspire us with their creativity in placement, colour and interpretation.

A quick way to get this look is by getting a custom press on nail according to Hi Yin Pink, better known as Pink, director for Fabulash Group.

“Custom press on nails are catered for women who want to look good at an important event. It’s great for ladies who don’t have time to attend a full manicure session or are in a rush. They can last up to 24 hours without heavy washing,” Pink says.

“The advantage of a custom press on nail is it allows the nail technician more time and creativity to work on the nail art, as fake nails are perfect in size and texture. Also, it will be an original design specifically for the customer.”

The customised press on nails are measured according to the customer’s finger size. Once the nail art is ready, these fake nails can then be fitted on with a special nail tape glue.

To remove them, soak your fingers in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes, or add a little essential oil in the water for faster removal.

“These customised nails won’t damage your nails and you don’t feel anything at all so it will feel like a part of your natural nails,” she says.

Here’s a look at some past and present nail art designs that charmingly reflect the spirit of Malaysia.
