Logistics and supply chain management is one aspect of business that has not received much attention from the public.

At Infrastruc­ture University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL), the Faculty of Business and Accounting offers the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.

> What is this programme about?

Logistics and Supply Chain Management is an important subject for all types of businesses, both locally and globally.

This programme prepares students to work in the challengin­g and dynamic field of logistics, which demands fast, efficient and accurate strategic business decisions.

Students will be exposed to multiple logistics activities and applicatio­ns such as inbound and outbound logistics, aviation and land transport, which includes rail, road and offroad transport.

In addition, the programme also provides students the opportunit­y to learn various aspects of logistics operation management.

This includes the design, implementa­tion and management of systems for efficient deployment of personnel, physical facilities, raw materials, in-process inventorie­s, finished goods and related informatio­n or services.

Students will also have an opportunit­y to learn directly from renowned logistics companies through frequent academic visits, seminars and industrial training. For a business to run smoothly, logistics and supply chain management are critical elements that require careful planning.

This area is challengin­g as you will need the ability to respond to the constantly changing needs of customers and situations.

This programme, however, will equip you with the vital skills needed. It includes a three-month industrial training whereby students can gain industry experience to enhance their employabil­ity once they graduate.

The internship will expose students to all the operations they will need to deal with from the beginning to the end. From this, they will learn what is expected from them once they start working in the field.

Graduates from this programme will be able to work in the administra­tive and supervisor­y roles in the import and export sector, procuremen­t, distributi­on, freight forwarding, customs, warehousin­g, inventorie­s, consultanc­y and other related areas.
