Find the calm in your day
STRESS is a condition arising from external physical or mental overload. It can make a person feel embattled, nervous, anxious or otherwise less capable of full and normal response to environmental demands.
Prolonged exposure to stress can unbalance the mental and physiological state of a person and lead to other illnesses. Adaptogens are herbs that boost an individual’s ability to cope with stress by normalising the body’s physiological process and help the body adapt to changes.
Ideally, an adaptogen should decrease stress-induced damage, safe and produce a beneficial effect even if the number of administrations is more than required. It should be devoid of any negative effects and not influence the normal body functions more than necessary.
Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that has these characteristics.
The Ayurvedic system of medicine claims that it promotes stress relief, energy-production system, immune system, neurological system, endocrinal system, reproductive system and increases resistance to adverse environmental factors, collectively known as the anti-stress-adaptogenic effect.
Ashwagandha’s roots consist primarily of withanolides, which is believed to account for its medicinal properties.
Many herbalists also believed that the combination and synergy of several other constituents found in the root give the clinical effects. For this reason, it is important to use a “full spectrum” extract, which maintains the balance of the various constituents as in the original herb.
KSM-66 ashwagandha extract is created via “Green Chemistry”, a process that holistically extracts all the root essence while preserving its natural healing potency.
It is standardised to the highest percentage of withanolides in the world, less than five percent by HPLC and has the highest concentration full-spectrum extract.
A study revealed that high-concentrated full-spectrum KSM-66 ashwagandha extract reduces levels of cortisol, which effectively improves an individual’s resistance towards stress and thereby improves self-assessed quality of life.
Lavender purportedly contains anxiolytic (anti-panic and anti-anxiety), relaxant and calming properties. Clinical trials have shown that lavender extract is beneficial in addressing sleep disorders and anxiety.
In different studies, the therapeutic effects of the herb can be attributed to its effect on gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a neurotransmitter that helps control fear and anxiety when neurons become overexcited.
Considering the increasing popularity of herbal remedies in stress relieving, KSM-66 ashwagandha and lavender extracts are excellent herbs for adults who are under stress.
