Croner trucks for the business-minded
UD Trucks, owned by Swedish truck giant Volvo Group and distributed solely by Tan Chong Industrial Equipment (TCIE), launched its latest medium-duty Croner truck at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang recently. The company touts its Croner (named after the god of time in Greek mythology) medium-duty truck range to be one that’s specifically made for growth markets like Malaysia with versatility, uptime, ety, reliability and bustness.
“Our goal is to build truck that the world needs ay, and in doing this successfully for the Croner, we have also taken into consideration the feedback and experience that we have received since the introduction of our heavy duty Quester truck range and incorporated it into the design and build of the all-new Croner,” said Volvo Group Trucks Asia & JVs president Håkan Karlsson.
Karlsson said he was confident that Croner would bring customers the efficiency and success they want, in any application.
The Croner uses the new GHE engine series mated to a new transmission and a newly designed aerodynamic cab.
An automatic transmission is also available for all variants.
It also comes in two gross vehicle weight (GVW) models starting with the smaller LKE and the larger PKE, with various wheelbases available to offer a wide range of configurations to suit specific demands of various industries.
The 12-tonne LKE with a 5,500mm wheelbase rolls on 19.5inch steel wheels with 265/70 tyres, while a 190-litre fuel tank feeds a Euro3 5,132cc GH5E 210 EC01 turbodiesel engine producing 210hp at 2,200rpm and 825Nm of torque from 1,200 to 1,600rpm, which is managed by a UDT ST1006 six-speed manual synchronized direct drive gearbox with cable gear shift linkage remote control.
The PKE model range, however, uses larger 22.5-inch steel wheels with 295/80 tyres and gets a more powerful Euro3 7,698cc GH8E 250 EC01 turbodiesel engine producing 250hp at 2,200rpm and 950Nm of torque from 1,100 to 1,700rpm.
As standard both variants come with a full airbrake system, anti-lock braking system, electronic brakeforce distribution, S-cam drum brakes and front
