Quality American programme

-

NOW that you have completed your secondary school education, deciding your next move can be a pressing matter.

Troy University associate vice-chancellor of international affairs Dr Curtis H. Porter advised school-leavers to obtain a degree that allows them to gain exposure abroad, as the experience will open doors to a rewarding career.

“Malaysians with experience working in a US firm would be able to better understand the different culture and work dynamics. These graduates are also better informed and can bring the best of both worlds to create the best for their future,” he added.

Porter was referring to the American Degree Programme (ADP) offered by SEGi University in collaboration with Troy University in the United States.

Troy University is known as Alabama’s International University for its extensive international programme which attracts foreign students worldwide.

It has once again been named among the best colleges and universities in the southeastern United States by The Princeton Review for the 13th consecutive year

Known for its flexible approach, SEGi’s ADP lets students complete the programme locally via the 4+0 option or transfer to the United States through its 2+2 or 3+1 option.

At SEGi, students will be exposed to a wide range of subjects in English, arts and humanities, science and social sciences. Through said collaboration, they can choose to major in communications, psychology or business.

The programmes available are: > Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Global Business major)

> Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts (Promotion or Psychology minor)

> Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Communication Studies or Global General Business minor)

ADP students have the flexibility to work up to one year in the United States under the optional practical training, which is beneficial for future employment.

They also have alternate transfer options to four other prestigious American universities – the University of Albany SUNY, Minnesota State University, University of Toledo and University of Wyoming – to earn an academic qualification.

This is made possible by SEGi, following its new agreements with the University of Albany SUNY, Minnesota State University, University of Toledo and University of Wyoming.

Similarly, students can opt for its 2+2 or 1+3 options to gain valuable exposure and unique perspectives provided both in and out of classrooms. The University of Albany SUNY, among the top American research universities in 2015, offers scholarships up to US$4,000 (RM17,110) for SEGi students with a CGPA above 3.0.

Meanwhile, students who are undecided on their undergraduate majors can check out Minnesota State University, Mankato.

It offers a wide range of nationally competitive programmes with up to 130 undergraduate majors and 80 graduate degrees.

For top-notch business education, University of Toledo ranked among top 100 Bloomberg best undergraduate business schools last year across the United States.

It offers scholarships up to US$9,200 (RM39,354) per academic year for SEGi students with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on admission and is renewable.

Meanwhile, University of Wyoming provides abundant opportunities to participate in research projects across many disciplines.

SEGi offers High Achiever’s Scholarships (HAS) for students with excellent academic achievement.

If you decide to complete your undergraduate studies with Troy University under its 4+0 option, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) offers education loan as well.
