Rewarding challenge
IGB International School is proud to be the first fully authorised school in Malaysia to offer all four International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes – the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP) and most recently, the Career-related Programme (CP).
These programmes all share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality and challenging international education.
Giving students the edge over their compatriots, the CP offers many qualifications for successful students – the diploma for the CP, the certificates for their diploma programme courses and certificates for the career-related study (CRS).
Consisting of at least two DP subjects, CRS and a core of four courses, the CP equips students with personal and professional skills, language development (Spanish in a business context), service learning (central to every IB programme) and a reflective project (to address the ethical issues associated with CRS).
For CRS, IGB International School is one of the world’s first IB schools to collaborate with the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales (ICAEW) for its much sought-after Certificate in Finance, Accountancy and Business (CFAB) qualification.
ICAEW CFAB students are awarded the certificate level, providing them with six certificates for accounting, management information, principles in taxation, assurance, business and finance, as well as law.
Graduating students can go on to become an ICAEW-chartered accountant, gain credit for entrance to university or directly enter the workforce.
Research conducted by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) in February 2016 found that previous enrolment in the DP significantly increased students’ likelihood of attending a top 20 higher education institute by 57% compared to A-levels. The DP and CP are recognised by over 2,000 of the world’s leading universities.
IGB International School’s graduates have secured university places at renowned universities worldwide. This year’s top scores have secured graduates places to study natural sciences at Magdalene College, Cambridge, liberal arts and computer science at University College, London, biological science at Imperial College, London and liberal arts and sciences at Quest University, Canada.
With a top score of 43 points, achieved by only the top 1% of students globally and 20% of graduates scoring more than 40 points, achieved by only the top 5% world-wide, IGB International School justifies its position as one of the premier schools in Malaysia
IGB International School will hold an Open Day on Sept 15 from 9am to noon.
This is an opportunity for visitors to see all four IB programmes in action as they tour the school facilities on a typical “school day”.
