Top-notch training

-

CREW Skills International (M) Sdn Bhd, an Ipoh-based culinary school set up in 2011, recently received a citation from the World Association of Chefs Societies as a Recognised Quality Culinary Education provider.

This distinction reflects Crew Skills’ success in establishing its commitment to competency-based culinary skills training in Malaysia.

Crew Skills is only the fifth culinary school to be recognised as such in Malaysia and the first in Perak.

According to chief executive officer Suresh Subramaniyam, “We find employment for all our graduates, in and out of Malaysia. We can guarantee employment because we know that our graduates are competent and practise safety measures in the kitchen.

“Our lecturers are experienced chefs as well as trainers. We have placed our students in first-class hotels, fine dining restaurants and quality restaurant chains.”

Crew Skills has traditionally offered the national SKM Levels 2 and 3 Certificate in Food Preparation and Production.

But earlier this year, it was appointed the authorised centre by City & Guilds to offer the Diploma in Culinary Arts at the Ipoh branch.

“City & Guilds is internationally recognised and in today’s market, it is good to have a universally accepted qualification,” said Suresh.

At the beginning of the year, Crew Skills opened its first branch in Seremban, where it now offers the Australian professional chef’s Certificate 3 and 4 in Commercial Cookery, which is awarded by Culinary Solutions Australia, a registered training organisation accredited by the Australian government. The Certificates in Commercial Cookery are accepted in Australia as a professional qualification for the purposes of employment or migration.

?? ?? Crew Skills offer the combined course over 15 months, followed by a seven-month internship.
