Destination highlights
With the holidays fast approaching, it is time to plan for an escape vacation. Be it a dreamy autumn weather or icy coldness of winter, Korea offers many different destinations and activities for visitors to discover.
Visit Pyeongchang, the host city for the upcoming 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea, the Alpensia Ski Resort is one of the official venues for the upcoming event where it will be the main Olympic Village, hosting the ski jumping, luge, bobsleigh and cross-country skiing.
The mascot Soohorang (white tiger) representing the Olympic 2018 Winter Games and Bandabi (black bear) for the Paralympic 2018 Winter Games will be welcoming visitors worldwide. Be ready to experience the passion with KTO for 17 days from Feb 9 to 25, 2018.
Craving for a golden sunset in the autumn? Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Dadaepo Beach in Busan while strolling along the bridge at Dadaepo Sunset or enjoy the cool sea breeze of Songdo Beach by taking the Busan Air Cruise. The transparent floor of the cabins is bound to thrill visitors while crossing the sea.
Experience a dreamy walk at Sangumburi Crater where visitors can admire the beauty of glowing silver grass swaying along with the autumn wind. It has been designated as a natural monument, located in the southeast side of Jeju-si.
One of the best destinations to visit during winter in Jeju Island will be Camellia Hill, the largest camellia arboretum in the Orient.
It welcomes you with 6,000 camellia trees of 500 different species together with other 250 native plants.
There are many photo spots throughout the garden, including Korean traditional cottages and decorated sitting areas.
Moving on to the south-west part of Korea, the Suncheonman Bay Wetland Reserve is famous for its huge expanse of reeds, which are beautiful to watch swaying in the breeze especially during sunset.
It is especially breathtaking during fall when the trees turn golden brown, slowly dropping their leaves all around like an autumn dream.
A visit to the national park is something not to be missed when travelling in Korea during autumn. The combination of mountains and valleys that surround Baekyangsa Temple, located within the Naejangsan National Park, creates spectacular scenery where nature reveals its beauty, especially the red maple leaves during the fall.
Winter is also known as the season of lights and for that, beautiful starlight can be seen around the Daegu E-World where hundreds of colourful LED lights transform the area into the village of snow light.
Visiting the fortress can open up the mind to something spectacular about the past.
