A social media tribute to the monarch
FANS and admirers of Sultan Muhammad V have set up a special Facebook page in honour of their beloved monarch.
Set up six years ago, the “Sultan Kelantan Yang Disayangi” Facebook page has attracted more than 100,000 followers and a similar number of likes.
The page was created by ordinary citizens who love and admire His Majesty’s personality.
According to the administrator, the Facebook page was created as a platform to share photographs of the Sultan, who is now the reigning 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
“Photographers out there who have interesting photos of our beloved Sultan, you can e-mail them to rakyatsayangsultan kelantan@gmail.com,” said the administrator in a posting. If they are published, the photographs would be credited to the contributors.
Sultan Muhammad V’s fans have said they admire him because he is known as a King with the people’s interests at heart.
“And His Majesty is close to the heart of the Kelantan people,” the administrator noted.
An interesting snippet from the page is from a contributor who goes by the name of “Ibnu Nor”, who said she admired the King for sporting a beard.
Ibnu Nor also asked that the King allow men in the armed forces to grow beards as well, saying that it is part of the “sunnah”. Sunnah is the customs and practices of the Muslim community that follows the traditions of Prophet Muhammad.
Another contributor Arikkawa Arasso praised the King for donning a simple jubah to the mosque.
Khairuddin Mohd Rashid complimented the King, saying that the Ruler, as a pious Muslim, has set a good example by being modest.
