Nicolas Cage plays historian Ben Gates who spent most of his adult life searching for a treasure rumoured to date back to when United States was born. He joins Ian Howe (Sean Bean) on an expedition that leads them to a clue linking to the treasure. Ben gets betrayed and now he plans to get even.
