When Victor Navorski (Tom Hanks) reaches the JFK airport in New York, war breaks out in his home country in Eastern Europe. As a result, his papers are no longer deemed valid and he is forced to stay in the terminal grounds indefinitely. While living at the airport, Viktor falls for a beautiful flight attendant (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and his feelings seem to be reciprocated. But when will he get to leave the airport?
