THE application of astrology, sound vibration and tapping into subtle energy flow can provide therapeutic results for various ailments and issues in life.

Result-oriented ancient sciences have proven to be effective in easing many health problems for millenia, and Westerners are now adopting and repackaging it as new age wisdom to make it more appealing to the world.

This was revealed by renowned experts at the 18th International Astrology & Vasthu Conference on National Heritage held in Bali early this month.

I was invited to present a paper on Vasthu Sastra for health at the event jointly organised by the India-based Asian Astrologers Congress (AAC) and World Astro Federation in Nepal.

AAC president Dr Sataya Biswas said sages safeguarded the knowledge that originated from India, and now it was being promoted by foreigners in different, attractive ways, thus resulting in wider reach and giving hope to people.

“Astrology is a powerful predictive science and when used consciously, individuals can experience direct benefits and avert bad times. It can help them in holistic decision-making.

“By forecasting an individual’s past, present and future, he or she can develop acceptance about life, learn how to cope with challenges positively and be inspired to achieve goals strategically,” he said.

Dr Biswas said everyone possesses hidden psychic ability linked to their astrological birth chart, and astrology can assist them to tap into such unconscious powers and take control of their special strength.

Astrologer Naresh Singh from Kathmandu said astrology is a therapy that provides body, mind and soul balance and it is linked with spiritual consciousness.

He said that in Vedic astrology, the nine planets govern every person, and each sphere emits rays of different colours which people should tap into for healing purposes.

The sun emits a combination of orange and red, the moon pale white, Mars red, Mercury green, Jupiter orange, Venus white and Saturn (black).

The two shadow planets Rahu (dragon head) and Ketu (dragon tail) have also been assigned the colours of black and brown.

“People having emotional issues should wear creamy colours on Monday, to boost low esteem; red on Tuesday; and green on Wednesday will improve sleep.

“Yellow should be worn on Thursday for those having liver issues and white should be worn on Friday for those having kidney ailments.

“Saturday is influenced by black and it should be worn for bone-related illnesses; red would be favourable for Sunday for those having heart related issues,” he said.

Naresh said chanting of specific mantras like the Aum mantra, observing a vegetarian diet, worshipping, charitable acts and doing selfless activities can assure people of improved health and protection.

Healer Acharya Tanushri Dueby from Bangkok said the practice of Kriya Yoga, which focuses on meditation, can calm the mind and provide inner control.

“Nothing can be controlled from the outside because the master key is within our spine.

“The yoga techniques of bending the spine forward allows the magnetic life force to flow and circulate in the spinal cord,” she said, adding that Kriya Yoga can even help the healing of long-term physical illnesses.

Tanushri said the benefits of the exercise allows immediate expansion of the lungs through inhalation and exhalation work and the physical postures assist in relaxing the muscles of the body.

Astrologer and Vasthu Sastra expert Madhav Mangal Joshi from Kathmandu said sound therapy is an ancient alternative treatment, and listening to instruments like the singing bowl, bells and the gong can reduce stress, sleep disorders and anxiety.

“When the sound is played, our brains start to sync into the alpha and theta brain wave states, which result in reducing anxiety levels and improving the immune system.

“Ancient remedies recognised vibration and sound as a vital method for restoring balance because sound waves move more efficiently through water and connects to the body,” said Madhav Mangal.

An example, he said, is to partly fill a Tibetan singing bowl with water and energising the water with the sound – an individual drinking the water can experience improved health.

He also spoke in length about how properties can be orientated in line with the five elements of ether, air, fire, water and earth to provide complete harmony to all dwellers following Vasthu rules.

Madhav Mangal encouraged property owners to use Vasthu information as a guide towards harmonious living because the science has been proven to produce positive results.

He added that the suffering and misery experienced by many people is due to ignorance of Vasthu, and can often be also due to dismissing age-old values as superstition.

The conference was officiated by Bali Senator Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedastra Putra Suryasa and was attended by participants from India, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
