Swiss Watch Gallery reopens Rolex boutique in Kuala Lumpur.

MARKING 10 years of partnership with Rolex, Swiss Watch Gallery has relaunched its Pavilion Kuala Lumpur boutique. The modernised retail space offers an intimate setting in which to discover luxury timepieces.

Upon entry, visitors will be enveloped in an atmosphere inspired by water and sea. It evokes the essence of Rolex, known worldwide as the inventor of the first waterproof wristwatch, the Oyster.

According to Valiram Group’s executive director Ashvin Valiram, the boutique is a “historical landmark”. When first opened a decade ago, it was considered to be Rolex’s biggest in South-East Asia.

“We are delighted that Swiss watchmaking’s crown jewel remains confident in our collaboration and we will continue to be its biggest and most passionate champion in the region,” he adds.

The 158sqm boutique features sophisticated and refined materials and finishes – including polished walnut wood cabinets and bronze detailing, which set the scene for a luxurious customer experience.

While an illuminated wall draws the eye with its gently undulating wave motif, the elegantly designed salesroom provides bespoke private service to those seeking a discreet shopping experience.

Standout timepieces

One of the latest timepieces from Rolex is the gold Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona. It sports a patented Oysterflex bracelet that combines robustness and comfort.

A key part of the model’s identity is the bezel engraved with a tachymetric scale for measuring average speeds of up to 400 units of distance – miles or kilometres – per hour.

The monobloc Cerachrom bezel in high-tech ceramic offers a number of advantages: it is corrosion resistant, virtually scratchproof and the colour is unaffected by UV rays.

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II is a unique regatta chronograph dedicated to yachting enthusiasts and experienced sailors. It comes with a dial and hands characteristic of the Rolex Professional model.

The dial also features a triangular hour marker at 12 o’clock and a rectangular hour marker at 6 o’clock for more intuitive reading of the watch. A luminescent disc on the hour hand clearly distinguishes it from the minute hand.

Rolex has also introduced new versions of its classic Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust 28. They are available in steel and Rolesor (a material combining 904L steel and 18 ct white gold).

As a classic feminine watch, the emblematic model has been a byword for style and accurate timekeeping ever since its launch in 1945.

The first women’s version of it, the Lady-Datejust, appeared in the late 1950s, bringing the heritage of timeless elegance and functionality to a smaller size perfectly suited to a lady’s wrist.

Other highlights to check out in-store include Oyster Perpetual Sea-Dweller, Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller, Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 40 and Oyster Perpetual Pearlmaster.
