A most thrilling match

-

IT was Sunday morning, the day I had eagerly awaited for.

I was seated with my father at the first row of the stadium in Alor Setar, Kedah.

It was a football match between Kedah and Singapore.

All the players came to the field and the match was about to start.

I screamed “break a leg” from my seat. The match started and my eyes were fixed on my favourite player, Rushil.

I admire him a lot and he is from my favourite team, Kedah. All footballers were playing energetically and trying hard to score for their team.

My eyes kept focusing on Rushil’s movements. Finally, he scored a goal. “Goal!” shouted the sports commentator. Kedah supporters rose up and clapped with joy.

Kedah was leading in the match, with a score of 1-0. Singapore kept on trying their best to score an equaliser goal.

Singaporean footballer Shaydon was trying hard to score a point for his team.

The ball reached Shaydon. He dribbled the ball to the goal post and kicked. Rushil came in the nick of time and blocked the ball. He took the ball and ran off to score another goal.

At the end of the first half, the players went to their lockers to refresh themselves. When the game restarted, Shaydon tried his luck again.

Unfortunately, a player from the Kedah team committed a foul and Singapore was awarded a penalty. Shaydon scored the penalty.

Goal! Singapore’s cheerleaders were over the moon. Before I knew it, it reached full time and it was the end of the game.

Kedah won the game and I was on cloud nine. – By Rushil Khaan Sahabudin, 8.
