AT KDU Pe­nang Uni­ver­sity Col­lege’s De­part­ment of Com­put­ing, the pro­grammes bring in­ter­ac­tive and ex­cel­lent ca­reer place­ment to push grad­u­ates to ex­plore re­al­world em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties world­wide.

Stu­dents be­come pro­fes­sion­als for mod­ern elec­tronic busi­ness and en­ter­prise ap­pli­ca­tion through en­tre­pre­neur­ial per­spec­tive.

KDU Pe­nang’s Com­put­ing Stud­ies are a prod­uct of its part­ner­ship with the Uni­ver­sity of Lin­coln, UK.

The re­cent es­tab­lish­ment of their dual award part­ner­ship com­bines the Uni­ver­sity of Lin­coln’s ex­pe­ri­ence in teach­ing and re­search with KDU Pe­nang’s ca­pac­ity to guide the trans­fer of learn­ing within a lo­cal busi­ness and cul­tural con­text.

Stu­dents will re­ceive de­gree cer­tifi­cates awarded by both in­sti­tu­tions, en­hanc­ing the qual­ity and recog­ni­tion of their aca­demic qual­i­fi­ca­tions.

Ac­cord­ing to the lat­est Guardian Uni­ver­sity rank­ings, the Uni­ver­sity of Lin­coln is rated among the top 50 uni­ver­si­ties in the UK.

In the UK Na­tional Stu­dent Sur­vey 2017, stu­dents have rated it as top 20 in the UK for qual­i­fi­ca­tions and teach­ing ex­pe­ri­ence.

Sim­i­lar to KDU, Uni­ver­sity of Lin­coln also has a 95% em­ploy­a­bil­ity rate among its stu­dents in which they man­age to se­cure a job within six months upon grad­u­a­tion.

Uni­ver­sity of Lin­coln (UK) was awarded Gold – the high­est stan­dard – in the Teach­ing Ex­cel­lence Frame­work (TEF) by the Higher Ed­u­ca­tion Fund­ing Coun­cil for Eng­land (HEFCE), a na­tional in­de­pen­dent as­sess­ment of teach­ing qual­ity in higher ed­u­ca­tion.

This means that said uni­ver­sity con­sis­tently de­liv­ers out­stand­ing teach­ing, learn­ing and out­comes for its stu­dents.

Bach­e­lor of Com­puter Science (Hons)

This de­gree is de­signed to pro­duce qual­ity grad­u­ates with sound tech­ni­cal knowl­edge of the broad as­pects of com­puter science. It pro­vides an un­der­stand­ing of com­puter science as an aca­demic dis­ci­pline.

The cour­ses cover a range of top­ics, in­clud­ing ob­ject-ori­ented pro­gram­ming, ar­ti­fi­cial in­tel­li­gence, mo­bile com­put­ing and com­pu­ta­tional math­e­mat­ics.

Bach­e­lor of Com­puter Science (Hons) in Com­puter and Net­work Tech­nol­ogy

This pro­gramme al­lows stu­dents to demon­strate their full po­ten­tial in re­spect to com­puter net­work­ing, soft­ware de­vel­op­ment and com­puter hard­ware in the con­text of mod­ern dig­i­tal com­mu­ni­ca­tion sys­tems.

It cov­ers a range of top­ics in­clud­ing ob­ject-ori­ented pro­gram­ming, com­puter data net­works, net­work pro­gram­ming and com­pu­ta­tional math­e­mat­ics.

Bach­e­lor of Com­puter Science (Hons) in Games Pro­gram­ming

This pro­gramme equips grad­u­ates with the lat­est tech­niques and re­sources to de­velop mo­bile so­cial me­dia and con­sole games. Stu­dents will study and ex­plore game de­sign and pro­gram­ming, 3D graph­ics, game en­gine pro­gram­ming and other spe­cial­ist top­ics in games de­sign, AI for games, game en­gine, game stud­ies and tools.

Bach­e­lor of In­for­ma­tion Sys­tems (Hons)

This de­gree is de­signed to pro­duce grad­u­ates who ex­cel in the tech­ni­cal and an­a­lyt­i­cal skills of in­for­ma­tion sys­tem de­sign and man­age­ment.

Stu­dents will gain the abil­ity to as­sess, eval­u­ate and com­mu­ni­cate key as­pects of In­for­ma­tion Sys­tems/In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy as an en­abler of mod­ern or­gan­i­sa­tions.

The cour­ses de­velop skills in un­der­stand­ing the crit­i­cal roles of busi­ness an­a­lyt­ics in var­i­ous or­gan­i­sa­tional con­texts, man­ag­ing projects and in­te­grate sys­tems within and across or­gan­i­sa­tions.

KDU Pe­nang also of­fers pro­grammes at the cer­tifi­cate, diploma and ad­vanced diploma lev­els such as Cer­tifi­cate in In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy (CIT), Diploma in 3D An­i­ma­tion and Mo­tion Cap­ture, Diploma in Com­puter Stud­ies, Diploma in Games Tech­nol­ogy and Ad­vanced Diploma in Cre­ative Me­dia De­sign (Vis­ual Ef­fects).

The De­part­ment of Com­put­ing works closely with the man­u­fac­tur­ing and soft­ware in­dus­try as they are com­mit­ted to cre­at­ing a ro­bust and com­plete in­dus­try-driven cur­ricu­lum, ren­der­ing stu­dents fit to work right af­ter grad­u­at­ing.

It also in­creases the ad­van­tage of re­search op­por­tu­ni­ties.
