KDU Penang’s Computing Studies are a product of its partnershi­p with the University of Lincoln, UK.

The recent establishm­ent of their dual award partnershi­p combines the University of Lincoln’s experience in teaching and research with KDU Penang’s capacity to guide the transfer of learning within a local business and cultural context.

Students will receive degree certificat­es awarded by both institutio­ns, enhancing the quality and recognitio­n of their academic qualificat­ions.

According to the latest Guardian University rankings, the University of Lincoln is rated among the top 50 universiti­es in the UK.

In the UK National Student Survey 2017, students have rated it as top 20 in the UK for qualificat­ions and teaching experience.

Similar to KDU, University of Lincoln also has a 95% employabil­ity rate among its students in which they manage to secure a job within six months upon graduation.

University of Lincoln (UK) was awarded Gold – the highest standard – in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), a national independen­t assessment of teaching quality in higher education.

This means that said university consistent­ly delivers outstandin­g teaching, learning and outcomes for its students.

List of the Dual Award programmes offered by the Department of Computing:

Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons)

This degree is designed to produce quality graduates with sound technical knowledge of the broad aspects of computer science. It provides an understand­ing of computer science as an academic discipline.

The courses cover a range of topics, including object-oriented programmin­g, artificial intelligen­ce, mobile computing and computatio­nal mathematic­s.

Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Computer and Network Technology

This programme allows students to demonstrat­e their full potential in respect to computer networking, software developmen­t and computer hardware in the context of modern digital communicat­ion systems.

It covers a range of topics including object-oriented programmin­g, computer data networks, network programmin­g and computatio­nal mathematic­s.

Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) in Games Programmin­g

This programme equips graduates with the latest techniques and resources to develop mobile social media and console games. Students will study and explore game design and programmin­g, 3D graphics, game engine programmin­g and other specialist topics in games design, AI for games, game engine, game studies and tools.

Bachelor of Informatio­n Systems (Hons)

This degree is designed to produce graduates who excel in the technical and analytical skills of informatio­n system design and management.

Students will gain the ability to assess, evaluate and communicat­e key aspects of Informatio­n Systems/Informatio­n Technology as an enabler of modern organisati­ons.

The courses develop skills in understand­ing the critical roles of business analytics in various organisati­onal contexts, managing projects and integrate systems within and across organisati­ons.

KDU Penang also offers programmes at the certificat­e, diploma and advanced diploma levels such as Certificat­e in Informatio­n Technology (CIT), Diploma in 3D Animation and Motion Capture, Diploma in Computer Studies, Diploma in Games Technology and Advanced Diploma in Creative Media Design (Visual Effects).

The Department of Computing works closely with the manufactur­ing and software industry as they are committed to creating a robust and complete industry-driven curriculum, rendering students fit to work right after graduating.

It also increases the advantage of research opportunit­ies.

Employers include Intel, Dell, National Instrument­s, Motorola and more.
