Fearless and fun

MARCELLA means a strong woman in Latin and that is the premise behind the new local cosbrand metics Marcella & Co, which was recently launched.

“My source of inspiration is my lovely daughter Marcella, the very reason for Marcella & Co,” says Sarah Shahdan, founder and CEO of Marcella & Co.

Marcella & Co is a beauty and cosmetics brand on a mission to inspire women to live fearlessly, have fun and give unconditionally, and own it.

Joining a growing base of Malaysian beauty brands, Sarah introduced her cosmetics brand by first offering a lip cream product. She also collaborates with local makeup artist Khir Khalid, who has been a professional makeup artist for 15 years and is known for his editorial work in top fashion publications.

The Marcella & Co X Khir Khalid is a limited edition Nude Vibes luxe lip cream collection that comes in three nude shades, named after iconic models from Christy, Twiggy to Iman.

“With his experience, Khir knows all the makeup brands and he knows what works and what doesn’t. The packaging was Khir’s idea and the whole concept is a combination of our personalities,” she says.

The Marcella & Co X Khir Khalid Nude Vibes trio luxe lip cream comes in a flip up top packaging that resembles a cigarette box, which adds an element of fun to the design, according to Sarah.

Sold on the brand’s website, they also have five lip creams in the shades of Eva (bronze metallic), Marcella & Co founder Sarah Shahdan (white tee) and Khir Khalid collaborated for the Marcella & Co X Khir Khalid limited edition Nude Vibes luxe lip cream collection that comes in three nude shades. — Marcella & Co Instagram

Gia (nude), Calista (pink), Nikita (red) and Venom (brown red) and priced at RM55 each.

The products are formulated in Britain and made in Malaysia, and Sarah says they will be expanding the makeup line.

“Enriched with argan and rosehip oils, the lip creams are moisturising and long lasting. Our products are vegan, cruelty-free and paraben-free, and we are in the midst of getting halal certification,” Sarah says.
