Become a licensed US medical specialist from Malaysia
FOR decades, Malaysian medical graduates have been going to Australia and the United Kingdom to prepare for their specialisation but today, competition is at its highest.
Now the ideal place for medical graduates to do their specialisation is in the US with the United States Licensing Examination (USMLE). The United States (the US) is currently facing a severe shortage of medical physicians, which is expected to continue until 2025.
Specialist training
In the last five years, the
US has been employing International Medical Graduates (IMG) from around the world to receive specialist training and one of those countries is Malaysia. This year, about 53.5% of IMGs got matched in the US Specialization training programme (Medical Residency).
Premier centre

The beauty of the USMLE is that students can sit for the first professional exam while in medical school. This allows them to become a specialist by the age of30.
Flexible programmes
With the increasing number of Malaysian medical graduates going to the US for the specialisation training, Kaplan has made its training programmes flexible, where students have the option of training and completing the first two steps of the USMLE exams in Malaysia. Kaplan provides online and live online training in Malaysia.
Medical physicians are highly paid in the US and upon completing the residency programme, graduates can continue working in the US or in other countries such as New Zealand, Australia and Malaysia as a medical specialist.
