Apart from academic excellence, the school emphasises holistic education. As such, extracurri­cular activities, field trips, excursions, by Trinity College, University of Melbourne, for the past four years. Last year, the school sent 19 students.

Year 9 to 11 students have also participat­ed in two humanitari­an and educationa­l trips to Cambodia organised by the school, which exposed them to the rich history and culture of Cambodia. They raised funds for a charity school in Cambodia.

To expose Year 10 students to the business world, the school initiated a Work Experience Programme last year. Under this programme, the Year 10 students had a one-week work placement stint with companies in Johor Baru during the December school holidays.

Twenty students joined the inaugural programme, which received positive and encouragin­g feedback from students, parents and employers.

AHIS is favoured by parents as one of the leading internatio­nal schools in Malaysia with state-ofthe-art facilities such as its Blackboard E-Learning System as well as experience­d and dedicated teaching staff.

Its IGCSE students have won numerous Cambridge Learner Awards in the Top in the World and Top in Malaysia Awards category since the school started offering the qualificat­ion in 2012.

Last year, AHIS received a fivestar rating in the Private Education Institutio­n Quality Standard Assessment (SKIPS) by the Education Ministry for excellent standards in the management and administra­tion of a private education institutio­n.

It was awarded the NAPEI Education Excellence Award 2016 in the Internatio­nal Schools category, Sin Chew Business Excellence Award 2016 in the category of Product and Service Excellence, and Excellence Golden Eagle Award by Nanyang Siang Pau.
