Gear up to get Fit

Samsung upgrades its fitness band with even more features and makes it water resistant so you can take it for a swim.

THE Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro has a large 1.5in Super Amoled display that makes it stand out from other smart fitness bands.

As the display is Super Amoled, you can expect bright, punchy colours and deeper blacks.

The elongated display also has a high resolution for its size – 216 x 432 pixels, and it’s curved so it fits the wrist really well despite having a longish screen.

And the best part – the heart rate monitor doesn’t stick out unlike some fitness bands. This is important, especially if you plan to wear the fitness band around the clock, and you would probably want to because it can also track your sleep pattern.

Other than counting the number of steps you take, it can also count the number of floors you have climbed, which is pretty useful.

You can even take it for a swim in the pool as the band is water resistant up to 5ATM (that’s atmospheric pressure) and up to a depth of 50m.

And all the statistics such as your step count can be viewed with the Samsung Health app or on the band itself, which is handy.

Go offline

The Fit 2 Pro runs on Samsung’s proprietary Tizen OS, which is widely used on its Smart TVs, home appliances and IoT devices.

To connect it to your phone you have to install the Samsung Gear app, which is available on Google Play and Apple App Store (which has just been updated to support the band).

With 4GB internal storage, you can store quite a lot of songs on the band to make your walks and runs much more fun. But Samsung has made this much easier by letting you listen to Spotify in offline mode.

You will need to be a Spotify Premium subscriber though but you will be able to effortlessly transfer your favourite playlists to the band so you can abandon your phone.

Whichever mode you pick, you will need a Bluetooth headset to listen to your music.

The band lasted about eight hours with the auto heart rate monitor turned off. Turning it on will shorten the battery life.

Conclusion

There are plenty of fitness bands on the market but not many are quite as featurepacked or gorgeous as the

Gear Fit 2 Pro.

It fits nicely on the wrist, the

Amoled display is not only nice but makes it easy to see all the info at a glance, and you also get a heart rate monitor.

However, it’s a little pricer than other bands but you are getting what you pay for.
