NAZA Kia Malaysia has unveiled Kia’s Stinger GT fastback sports sedan touted to be ready to take on continental rivals.
Brought in as a left-hand drive preview unit at the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 in Serdang last week, the all-wheel drive (AWD) Stinger is the highest-performance production vehicle in Kia Motor’s history.
The Stinger GT is also available in rear-wheel drive form.
The unit on display is fitted with 19-inch rims and ContiSportContact5 tyres sized 225/40 in front and 255/35 in the rear.
It has an extended wheelbase of 2,905mm to deliver a spacious cabin, and a long rear overhang with strong, broad shoulders.
The Stinger GT measures 4,830mm in length and 1,870mm in width, making it longer and wider than many sport sedans.
With a 406-litre cargo capacity (VDA), the Stinger’s boot can accommodate two full-size suitcases or golf bags.
Cossetting occupants in luxury, the Stinger’s deeply-contoured seats are available with ultra-soft Nappa leather.
Its 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 ‘Lambda II’ petrol engine delivers 370PS at 6,000rpm and 510Nm of torque from 1,300 to 4,500rpm.
The Stinger can accelerate from rest to100kph in 5.1 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating production Kia ever.
The Stinger features Kia’s second-generation electronic eightspeed automatic transmission.
Another petrol engine option is a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder ‘Theta’ engine that produces 255PS at 6,200rpm and 353Nm of torque from 1,400 to 4,000rpm.
